Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis became the fastest Asian batter to score 5 Test hundreds with a century against New Zealand in the second Test on Friday.

The 25-year-old reached the mark of 5 Test centuries in 13 innings and broke the record previously held by Pakistan’s Fawad Alam who got to the mark in 22 innings.

Mendis is now joint-fourth fastest in the all-time list of batters to reach 5 Test centuries in the fewest innings.

He also went level with Australian great Sir Don Bradman and West Indies’ George Headley by reaching the mark in his 13th innings.
