Former Australia Test cricketer Kerry O’ Keefe has stoked yet another controversy with his remarks on Indian cricketers. After questioning the batting credentials of debutant Mayank Agarwal, O’ Keefe could be heard mocking the names of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja while commentating during the ongoing third Test between India and Australia in Perth. (O’Keeffe ridicules Agarwal’s First-Class runs)
Apparently, he was finding it hard to pronounce the names of the two cricketers properly leading to him questioning ‘Why would you call your kid Cheteshwar Jadeja?’ leaving fellow commentators laughing.
The comment didn’t go down well on the social media with several users slamming O’ Keefe for crossing the line with former India Test openers Aakash Chopra terming it as unacceptable.
“Canteen XI the other day. Why would you name your kid Cheteshwar and Jadeja (not even knowing that his name is not Jadeja) today. If you can’t pronounce someone’s name, it’s YOUR problem. Unfortunate. Unacceptable,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Unacceptable. #AusvInd— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) December 29, 2018
If these Aussie comms can’t even pronounce Ravindra Jadeja properly, they should actually stop commentating. And asking ‘Why would you name your kid Cheteshwar?’ – that is the pits of commentary. Not outraging. Just calling out shit commentary #AUSvIND

Kerry O’Keefe now making fun of Pujara and Jadeja’s names. “Who names their kid Cheteshwar?” He asks followed by a disturbing laughter. Seriously, if this is considered funny and entertaining commentary, I’d prefer to keep the TV on mute.

O’Keefe had to apologise after he described Agarwal’s triple-century against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy last year as a knock he achieved against railways canteen staff. (O’Keeffe apologises for ‘railway canteen staff’ jibe)
“Apparently he got the triple against the railways canteen staff,” O’Keefe said and added that the bowling attack was made up of “chefs and waiters”
