Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the Desert T20 Challenge 2017. This is match No. 11 between Afghanistan and Namibia. The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This will not be an international match as Namibia do not have the T20 Internationals status. Namibia have not been able to win a single match so far and will be looking forward to register at least one victory in the tournament with the final match at hand. Afghanistan, on the other hand, have been unbeaten so far in the competition so far, qualifying straight to the semi-final and will look to proceed with the unbeaten tag.
Namibia will have to walk a long way to beat an all powerful Afghanistan, who are being considered as one of the emerging powers in world cricket. The team’s top-order is rich with players like Mohammad Shahzad and Asghar Stanikzai. The team also has Mohammad Nabi who has emerged as a potent all-rounder over time. Nabi has been highly effective with both bat and ball of late and will be a big threat to any opponent. Talking about Namibia, though they had started off well in their previous match, they failed to maintain the momentum and eventually lost the match. They do have talented players and will have to act as a team to snatch victory out of the heavyweights’ jaw.
Squads:
Afghanistan: Asghar Stanikzai (c), Mohammad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Dawlat Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Amir Hamza, Najibullah Zadran, Fareed Ahmad, Najeeb Tarakai, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Naveen-ul-Haq
Namibia: Sarel Burger (c), Stephan Baard, Christopher Coombe, Gerhard Erasmus, Jan Frylinck, Zane Green, JP Kotze, Mika Mutumbe, Colin Peake, Bernard Scholtz, JJ Smit, Gerrie Snyman, Louis van der Westhuizen, Craig George Williams
