This is will also be the 100th Test for Bangladesh, since their first Test in 2000 against India, which they lost by 9 wickets at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Since then they have seen much trials and tribulations in the journey towards building a competitive side in Test cricket. Bangladesh’s first Test win came against Zimbabwe, where Enamul Haque Jr ran through the opponents landing his side a 226 run win. This was also their first Test series win, after the second Test ended in a draw.
Bangladesh made just one change for the second Test, leaving out the out-of-form Mahmudullah. Sri Lanka, on the other hand have no such issues as the selection committee continues to display faith in the current Test side, that has a blend of experience and raw blood.
Sri Lanka’s record at P Sara Oval stands at 9 wins and 6 losses from 19 matches. Bangladesh, meanwhile do not share such a favorable record at P Sara Oval, a ground where they have lost all the 3 Tests they have featured in.
