Bangladesh Women will take on their counterparts from Sri Lanka in the 14th match of the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2016-17. The match will be played at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. Sri Lankan Women are a having an inconsistent tournament so far, sitting slightly worried at No.4 in the Points Table with two wins from 4 games. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have had their highs and lows in this edition of the Asia Cup. Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will want to leave a lasting impression ,before the completion of Asia Cup T20. This is will be the final game for both sides in this tournament. Sri Lanka still have a chance to qualify for the final, unlike Bangladesh who are out of the reckoning even if they land a win. For, Sri Lanka to qualify they need to thump Bangladesh by a massive margin, and also hope that Thailand pull off a miracle and beat in-form team Pakistan.
Both teams have faced each other only two-times in the past, which came two-years ago in the Women’s World T20 2016. To everyone’s surprise Bangladesh have not lost against Sri Lanka and still maintain a clean-sheet. The last time these two met, Bangladesh just edged past Sri Lanka by a margin of mere 3-runs.
Sri Lanka, started the tournament losing their opening match against Pakistan by a massive margin. Sri Lanka in their second game was outclassed by India, being handed a 52-run defeat. Sri Lanka soon got into the groove and notched up wins against Nepal and Thailand.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, lost both their matches to India and Pakistan. Against Nepal, Bangladesh displayed an all-round performance to gift themselves a 92-run win. In their last match against Thailand, Bangladesh just managed to pull off a win from the jaws of defeat.
