Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Group A match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2015-16 between Delhi and Haryana. Former India teammates face each other for a domestic duel as a Gautam Gambhir led Delhi take on Virender Sehwag’s Haryana in the group A match between Delhi and Haryana on October 15 at Feroz Shah Kotla. While Haryana have not been able to win a match yet, Delhi has been in terrific form this season currently having won against Vidarbha. Winning one and having drawn the other of the two matches that they have played, Delhi is currently brimming with confidence as both their captain and star batsman Gambhir and leader of bowling attack Ishant Sharma are in great touch with bat and ball respectively. Scoring 117 in the first match against Rajasthan and 141 in the other against Vidarbha, Gambhir surely seems to be a dependable option as far as Delhi’s batting is concerned. For bowling, Ishant Sharma comes as a threatening opponent looking at his 9 wickets that he has taken against Vidarbha. But one key player who can turn the match has to be Manan Sharma looking at his performance against Vidarbha where he scored 53 runs and took 3 wickets as well.
On the other hand, Haryana would look forward to bag their first victory as well as points to elevate their position. Virender Sehwag, who moved from Delhi to Haryana this season, scored 92 in the lone match played by Haryana so far and the match with Maharashtra was drawn. But the highest scorer of the match has been Haryana’s Himanshu Rana scoring an astounding 157 helping Haryana build a defendable total. While talking about bowling, Haryana has Ashish Hooda and Jayant Yadav on whom the hopes of Haryana are likely to be.

Let’s see how Delhi’s batters reply. Gautam Gambhir who played well in the last match will have his task cut out to give a good start to Delhi in this match too.

Rana was batting well on 24 but was not able to judge the line of Awana’s delivery on which he got out. The ball struck his leg and the point of impact was found to be in line with the stumps, hence the umpire declared that he was out.

They are batting on 12 and 24 respectively. Both are playing scoring shots on lose balls only. Also they are trying to score runs by rotating the strike and not trying to go for big hits. Thus we can say that they are batting with discipline and dedication which is also the need of the hour since half of their side is back in the pavilion.

NR Saini should try to give Rana more strike and it is Rana’s responsibility to convert this start which he has got into a big score but for that he needs support at the other end.

Ishant Sharma is bowling well, he took the first wicket and has an economy of only 2.4 as of now, which is very good considering that Sehwag is in the middle.
