Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of what could be the final day in the Ashes 2015 series, between England and Australia. The hosts were reeling at 203 for 6 after they were asked to follow-on by Australia in the fifth and final Test at The Oval, and needed another 129 runs to save themselves from an innings defeat. The Australians continued to make the right moves on the third day on a trot as Michael Clarke decided to enforce follow-on over England after they were bowled out for a paltry 149. Jos Butter and Mark Wood were at the crease at stumps on Day 3. This is Devarchit Varma, and I will be bringing you the live cricket scores and live cricket updates of the match. Alastair Cook: It has been an interesting Test. Both teams have been off the intensity, credit for Australia despite losing the Ashes. I think you see how Australia are in this game, we played good cricket in crucial moments. Crowd has been exceptional on all five venues. It is a talented group of players. We have the freedom to go and play freely. It has been a very different series, matches lasting to two and a half days. We have come a long way from the 5-0 at the SCG.

Michael Clarke: I think after the last Test it was a reward. No doubt England deserve the win, they outplayed us. We played good Australian brand of cricket in this Test. I have no regrets. To be able to still get up and win this Test tells a lot about the characters of these guys. I have loved every single trip to England. I am thankful and grateful to have played cricket. I was lucky, came into a very experienced and great Australian team. Those guys mentored me and I hope I have been able to pass on some knowledge. I love this team, I think Australian cricket is in safe hands. This is not the stage for me, it is for Alastair and his team. Congratulations England.

Joe Root (England’s Man of the Series): Credit to Australia, they outplayed us in all departments in this Test. The guys prepared well for this game, had a poor couple of hours. Australia has been a good side. Important for us to improve quickly. I think credit goes to the whole squad, everyone contributed. Tonight will be hard to be, look forward to going ahead. I have responsibility to score runs, it is not going to change anytime.

Chris Rogers (Man of the Series for Australia):  I have never been up here, so it has been pretty special (in presentation ceremony), and also been a part of Michael’s last Test. I have played both in England and Australia. It has been tough, and this has been hard work as well. England bowled well. I am a very proud Australian but it is fitting that I finish in England, had a lot of support, thank you very much. Playing cricket for living … I always enjoyed it. To have the experience I had with these guys I will never forget.

Steven Smith: There was a lot to play for us in this Test. The way the batters played was outstanding and the bowlers backed up well. It was hard work. It has been disappointing for us to have played that way, England thoroughly deserved a win. Michael has been outstanding, I have learned a lot from him. We got a lot of cricket to be played before the next Ashes; new players will come in and get settled.

Michael Clarke: Very kind [Guard of Honour]. It is very nice, both Chris and I are . The win was not about us. We are proud of the result, the series is done and we need to keep that in mind. Alastair Cook and his men deserve all the accolades. It has been an amazing journey. Doesn’t matter you play one test or 100. You never want  to say goodbue. I have been lucky to play with fantastic players.

Chris Rogers: Pretty sad. I don’t get emotional. It has been a fantastic journey. To have finished alongside an Aussie great is special. I will miss the moments. I am going to cherish tonight.

Cook faced as many as 234 balls and scored 85, but was very unfortunate to have been dismissed by Steven Smith close to stumps on Day Three.
