Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Group A match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2015-16, between Haryana and Bengal. The match will be played at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Rohtak, and it will be a home game for the Haryana team. The home team has shown good signs in this Ranji Trophy 2015-16 season, as in three games so far, they have drawn two and have lost one. On the other hand, the Bengal team is yet to get going. They have played three matches so far in this Ranji Trophy 2015-16 season and have drawn all of them.

Haryana will be having their captain Virender Sehwag for this game, as the former Indian cricketer is all set to depart for the upcoming Cricket All Stars League starring some of the biggest names in world cricket. Sehwag will be playing in this contest as per the reports, and will be missing the two games at Lahli — against Assam and Odisha in November.

Haryana did well to hold the defending champions Karnataka for a draw in their last match. They managed to post a strong total of 331, and obtained a crucial first-innings lead when they bowled out Karnataka for 221 in their reply. The game ended in an exciting draw, when Karnataka managed to hold their fort with eight wickets down for 202, chasing a daunting target of 373 runs. After this impressive show, Haryana would aim for improvisation.

On the other hand, Bengal would look to play more aggressively and for results. They are coming off a draw against Delhi, a game in which their captain Manoj Tiwary had an unwanted and nasty on-field spat with veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

Live cricket scores: Bengal 257/8 | Overs 90| Batting: Pragyan Ojha 22(66), Ashoke Dinda 5(6): At stumps, Bengal have managed to reach 8 for 257 on Day 1 of their fifth-round Ranji match against Haryana. The last man to be dismissed was Pankaj Kumar shaw, who scored 54 and played a huge role in getting his team near 250. At stumps, bowlers Pragyan Ojha and Ashoke Dinda are playing at 22 and 5 respectively. For Bengal, the highlights of the day were fifties by Pramod Chandila and Shaw while for Haryana, seamer Sachin Rana too three wickets. Mohit Sharma went wicket-less on the day while Haryana skipper Virender Sehwag also bowled six wicket-less overs.

Live cricket scores: Bengal 222/7 | Overs 78| Batting: Pankaj Kumar Shaw 38(78), Pragyan Ojha 9(28): Pramod Chandila scored a quickfire 79-ball 65 to take Bengal innings closer to the 200 run mark. He was adjudged leg before wicket of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling. The next man in Veer Pratap Singh could manage just four runs before being removed by AH Hooda. Pankaj Kumar Shaw is still going strong with his 38 not out. Former Hyderabad player Pragyan Ojha, who is 9 not out, is giving good company to him.

OUT! Veer Pratap Singh b AH Hooda 4(12)

OUT! Pramod Chandila lbw b Chahal 65(79)

Live cricket scores: Bengal 171/5 | Overs 63| Batting: Pramod Chandila  60(71), Pankaj Kumar Shaw 15(35): Pramod Chandila has completely dominated the last 10 overs by taking the opposition to the attack. He reached to his fifty quickly, scoring six boundaries in the process. Pankaj Kumar Shaw has played a perfect foil to him, remaining unbeaten on 35-ball 15 on the other end. If Chandila could continue in the same fashion, Bengal can aim for a good total.

Live cricket scores: Bengal 124/5 | Overs 52| Batting: Pramod Chandila  29(39), Pankaj Kumar Shaw 0(0): Rana is on a song and his latest victim is the big fish Manoj Tiwary. The Bengal skipper looked all set in the middle when he was deceived completely by a Rana delivery and got his stumps knocked out for 24. The Haryana medium pacer is having a gala time and has picked up three wickets so far. Pramod Chandila is looking good and has struck a few boundaries in his 29 not out so far.

OUT! Manoj Tiwary b S R Rana 24(51)

Live cricket scores: Bengal 86/4 | Overs 42| Batting: Manoj Tiwary 13(19), Pramod Chandila 2(11): Bengal have lost their way post-lunch by losing two quick wickets. Both the batsmen who took team to lunch were dismissed soon after the break. First to go was Chatterjee, who was removed by AH Hooda for six. The next to go was the more set of the two, Srivats Goswami, who threw away a fine start and got out for 35. He became Rana’s second victim. Haryana have got just the kind of start they wanted to the tea session. Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary has come out now and has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to bail his team out.

OUT! Srivats Goswami b S R Rana 35(82)

OUT! Sudip Chatterjee ct R R Dalal b A H Hooda 6(31)

Live cricket scores: Bengal 61/2 | Overs 34| Batting: Srivats Goswami 29(68), Sudip Chatterjee 6(26): Bengal have managed to go to lunch without losing any further wicket. Both Shrivats Goswami and Sudip Chatterjee have survived this phase of play. The Haryana bowlers have been good so far and have made early inroads. But skipper Virender Sehwag would want more from his bowlers and would ideally want them to get wickets rather than containing the batsmen.

Live cricket scores: Bengal 42/2 | Overs 26| Batting: Srivats Goswami 15(41), Sudip Chatterjee 1(9): Bengal have lost Sayan Shekhar Mandal in this phase of play. He has been replaced by Sudip Chatterjee. Skipper Manoj Tiwary, who was recently involved in an ugly spat with his Delhi opposite number Gautam Gambhir, is yet to come.

OUT! Sayan Shekhar Mondal ct R R Dalal b S R Rana 13(72)

Live cricket scores: Bengal 26/1 | Overs 16| Batting: Sayan Shekhar Mandal 12(51), Srivats Goswami 1(7): Bengal didn’t have the best of the starts to this match, as they’ve lost their first wicket quite early. Naved Ahmad was cleaned up by Harshal Patel for 12. Haryana attack includes the the likes of Mohit Sharma, Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal and it will be interesting to see how Bengal approaches its innings. OUT! Naved Ahmad b H V Patel 12(38)
