India rocked the Australian top-order in the first session of first day’s play in the fourth Test match as Australia reached 98 runs for the loss of three wickets at lunch in Adelaide.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful Indian bowler with two wickets conceding 20 runs. Zaheer Khan gave the first blow to the hosts as he dismissed the dangerous David Warner for eight runs.
Earlier, Australian captain Michael Clarke has won toss and asked India to bowl first in the fourth Test match at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
The series is lost and their reputation is in tatters but India will make a desperate bid to avoid a whitewash when they take on Australia in the fourth and final Test at Adelaide on Tuesday, hoping to redeem some of the lost pride.
India have already conceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a humiliating innings and 37 runs loss at WACA, Perth last week and the reputation of their top players is almost beyond repair.
Brief Score: Australia 98 for 3 (Ricky Ponting 43*, Michael Clarke 8*, Ed Cowan 30; Ravichandran Ashwin 2 for 20, Zaheer Khan 1 for 13) vs India
