    India top points table

That is it. Sana Mir departs. She adds 23 runs for the 10th wicket with Sadia Yousuf – the highest partnership for Pakistan. She gave her best with the ball, with the bat, and with her captaincy, but Pakistan fall short by 95 runs.

Here is the detailed match report: Ekta Bisht’s 5-for dismantles Pakistan

    Pakistan 43/6, 23 overs, Nahir 23, Mir 2

Pakistan lose one more wicket. They have put up no fight whatsoever. Indian spinners are having a good time in the middle. Captain Sana Mir and opener Nahida Khan in the middle to take Pakistan out of the woods. Can they, by any chance, recover from here?

  • 7:42 PM IST
    Pakistan 24/5, 13.1 overs

Things look bleak for Pakistan. They lose half the side: 4 lbw, 1 bowled.

At this stage, India had lost only one. Deepti Sharma gets a wicket as well. India cruising to an easy victory.

    Pakistan 9/3, 6 overs

Well, well, well. Just when we thought Pakistan would have it easy, India take 3 wickets withing 6 overs. Jhulan Goswami bags one, while slow left-arm orthodox Ekta Bisht scalps two. Pakistan lose all the reviews. They need another 161 runs in 44.2 overs.

    Pakistan need 170 to win.

India managed 55 runs in the last 10 overs, thanks to Sushma Verma’s late blitz of 33. Her innings was studded with 3 fours and a six.

Nashra Sandhu pocketed her maiden four-for, while Sadia Yousuf ended with figures of 2 for 30.
  • 5:48 PM IST
    India 114/6, 40 overs, Sushma 3, Goswami 1

India are reduced to 111 for 6 from 74 for 1. Mona Meshram departs as well. She succumbs to pressure, playing an uncharacteristic shot. Sadia sends the middle stump for walk.

Jhulan Goswamu joins Sushman Verma in the middle. Both need to play as long as possible to avoid an all-out.
  • 5:23 PM IST
    India 107/5, 35 overs, Mona Meshram 4

Another one bites the dust. India lose Harmanpreet Kaur. She holes a short delivery to Sana Mir at short mid-wicket. The ball was racing past Sana Mire, but she times her jump perfectly and takes a stunner. She throws the ball as if she does it day in and day out. Like a boss.

    Harmanpreet Kaur c Sana Mir b Yousuf 10 (23)

  • 4:55 PM IST
    India 94/4, 27 overs

Pakistan bounce back spectacularly. Nashra has Mithali caught in front. Umpire says not out. Sana Mir takes a review, and it is plumb. Umpire reverses his decision. In comes Harmanpreet Kaur. She changes strike. Nashra bowls wide. Set Deepti tries to scythe it only to edge it to the keeper. Umpire denies again. Sana Mir takes a review again. Another wicket. Double blow for India.

  • 4:36 PM IST
    India 78/2, 23 overs, Deepti 17, Mithali 4

OUT! Nashra nicely tosses up. Raut closes the face of the bat to work it on the leg side only to get a leading edge. She misses out on a well-deserved half-century.

In comes Mithali and she gets a boundary off the first ball. Like a boss.

    Punam Raut c and b Nashra Sandhu 47 (72)
  • 4:12 PM IST
    India 48/1, 17 overs, Raut 30, Deepti 9

Only 4 boundaries so far. Pakistan have stunningly kept a lid on the runs. A couple of quick wickets and India will stare down the barrel. However, this is a good ploy by India as well. They are letting the ball lose its shine, keeping wickets in hand. And the track will only get better as the match progresses. They still have Mithali, Harmapreet. Mind you, they can use the long handle to devastating effect.
  • 3:49 PM IST
    India 22/1, 11 overs, Raur 10, Deepti 7

Pakistan have been on top since Smriti Mandhana went back. They have been electric on the field and exceptional with the ball. With only 2 players on the leg, they have been bowling according to the fielding. With the spectacularly swinging, it is not easy to control line and length. But I tell you, Pakistan Women have been spot on. There is spring in their walk, fire in their belly, and aggression in their eyes.

The only two boundaries came thus far have been off short deliveries.
  • 3:24 PM IST

    India 7/1, 3.3 overs, Raut 4, Deepti 0

OUT! Swung back in. Caught in front. Plumb. Baig gets maiden her ODI wicket and that of Mandhana. That was a ripper. Sharp swing did not give Mandhana enough time to get her bat down. Top-drawer cricket, this. Pakistan draw first blood.

In comes Deepti Sharma. Mithali Raj keep herself for middle order. I am sure she is unaffected by the early blow and reading a book to keep herself calm and focussed.

    Mandhana lbw b Baig 2 (9)

  • 3:13 PM IST

    India 7/0, 3 overs, Raut 4, Mandhana 2

There is swing on offer, but Pakistan have not found the right length yet. To make matters worse, Pakistan have started being sloppy in the field. They are lucky that outfield is a bit slow.

Before Indian openers – Raut and Mandhana – find their feet, Pakistan need to bog them down. Mind you, Raut and Mandhana have so far put up consecutive 100-run stands. They start slow but accelerate as soon as the ball ages.
