India Women will take on their counterparts from Sri Lanka in the 12th match of the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2016-17. The match will be played at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. The Indian Women have been on a roll in this tournament, sitting pretty at the first spot in the Points Table with three wins in as many matches. India have six points after these three victories, and they will aim to continue their winning run against the Sri Lankan Women, who are on the third spot in the points table with two wins and a defeat. Sri Lanka Women have four points, which even the team from Bangladesh has. But since the Sri Lankan Women lost only one match, they are at the third spot despite Bangladesh Women playing four matches. It has been a tournament dominated completely by the Indian Women. They started the tournament with a big win against Bangladesh by 64 runs. In their second match, India Women hammered a listless Thailand Women’s team by a massive margin of 9 wickets with as many as 60 balls remaining. In their third match, India Women trumped their arch rivals Pakistan Women with a comfortable 5-wicket victory.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan Women have had a decent tournament so far. Sri Lanka Women started off with an eight-wicket thrashing of their opponents from Nepal, a contest which they won with 93 balls to spare. Sri Lanka hammered Thailand by 75 runs which was their second win in three matches, having lost by 8 wickets to Pakistan with 10 balls remaining.
Mithali Raj of India has been the leading run-scorer from her side, garnering 85 runs in three matches with a highest of 49 not out. India are through to the final, while their opponents are yet to be finalised.
