India will begin Day Two at 37 for no loss in their first innings against West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Shikhar Dhawan (21) and Murali Vijay (16) are batting at the crease. India trail West Indies by 197 runs. However, all eyes will be set on Sachin Tendulkar who is likely to bat on Thursday.
Both the openers will be eager to build the lead and dominate the West Indian attack. Dhawan is known for his attacking play and Vijay too is not far behind in going for his strokes.
Earlier, West Indies were bowled out for 234 after electing to bat first. Marlon Samuels top-scored with 65 but there was little choose from between the other batsmen. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers for India with four wickets.
Brief scores:
West Indies 234 (Marlon Samuels 65; Shami Ahmed 4 for 71, Ravichandran Ashwin 2 for 52) lead India 37 for no loss (Shikhar Dhawan 21*, Murali Vijay 15*) by 197 runs.
