India began their tour of Australia well, bowling out Cricket Australia (CA) XI for just 219 in the first of two two-day practice matches at Adelaide. The Indian batsmen ended the day at 55 for one after Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed early by Josh Lalor in the seventh over of the innings for 10.
Thereafter, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara carried on from there and provided stability to the innings. Both remained unbeaten at the end of the day’s play. Vijay looked good as he scored a well-crafted 32 off 50 deliveries, while Pujara was resolute on 13 off 26 balls. Both men will be eager to make the most of the second day.
CA XI opener Matthew Short was dismissed off the first ball he faced from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in what was the first over of India’s tour of Australia. Fellow opener Ryan Carter finished as the highest scorer for CA XI as he scored a half-century, but was later dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Varun Aaron was the most successful bowler for the Indians as he picked up three wickets, including two in three balls, while Karn Sharma — who was expensive at the start — Mohammed Shami, and Bhuvnweshwar ended with the two wickets each.
