Karnataka have secured a slender lead of 19 runs and will look to bat the entire day to get a huge score and put Rest of India (ROI) under pressure. Karnataka conceded a first innings lead of 20 runs after ROi were bowled out for 264, after Karnataka were dismissed for 244 on Day 1. Skipper Vinay Kumar, Abhumanyu Mithun and Shreyas Gopal picked up three wickets each. It looked as though Karnataka will take the lead but ROI’s last wicket partnership ensured that ROI secured a small lead. Karnataka won the Ranji Trophy after they beat Tamil Nadu comprehensively in the final at Mumbai.Manoj Tiway is the captain of ROI and he will look to lead his team to a victory against a dominant Karnataka side. Karnataka’s Uthappa, who closely missed the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 bus in spite of scoring heavily this domestic season, would like to continue with his form and make a statement to the selectors. He scored 912 runs in 19 innings at an average of 50.66 per innings, topping the Ranji batting charts.
