Hello and welcome to CricketCountry‘s live coverage of the third day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2015-16 Group B fixture between Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Mumbai at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Wednesday. Mumbai currently have two full two days at their disposal to chase the target of 280 down in order to consolidate themselves at the top of their group, with a win taking their points tally to 32. Mumbai prevented the target from shooting to impossible proportions by restricting MP to 201 in their second innings, with Jalaj Saxena top-scoring for his side with a 152-ball 79, while Devendra Bundela added a useful 113-ball 42. Madhya Pradesh would be disappointed with their bowling in the second innings. The dismissal of Aditya Tare — when Mumbai needed more than 76 runs to win — swung the match heavily into their favour. But all credit and full marks to the maturity shown by Iqbal Abdullah and Shardul Thakur, who batted with lot of ease. They never looked in hurry. When MP were on top, they paid them full respect but at the same time kept Mumbai crawling close to the target. Even when they were few runs away from win, Mumbai batsmen did not show any hurry and completed a memorable win. This is their highest successful chase ever in Ranji Trophy history, and the 40-times champions should celebrate in style tonight! Goodbye from us! Shadrul and Iqbal have taken the game away from Madhya Pradesh, whose chances of winning this game are diminishing rapidly. Mumbai need 18 more runs to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 248/7 (Target: 280) | Overs 67 | Batting: Shardul Thakur 19 (36), Iqbal Abdullah 23 (76): Mumbai have put themselves on the drivers seat. With three wickets in hand they need about 30 more runs to win. MP would need some magic against their opponents or else Shardul and Abdullah can do the job for Mumbai.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 233/7 (Target: 280) | Overs 63 | Batting: Shardul Thakur 10 (24), Iqbal Abdullah 18 (66): Shardul and Abdullah have helped Mumbai crawl back into this game. Mumbai now need only 47 more runs and with time not being the factor, it can be said that it is MP who are in pressure.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 217/7 (Target: 280) | Overs 57 | Batting: Shardul Thakur 2 (3), Iqbal Abdullah 9 (49): The scoring has been low from Mumbai since the fall of Aditya Tare. Adbullah has been  there for quite sometime but he has not looked to score runs. Shardul has walked in after the dismissal of Nikhil Patil. Mumbai need 63 more to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 188/5 (Target: 280) | Overs 44 | Batting: Aditya Tare 30 (55), Iqbal Abdullah 3 (20): The play has resumed post lunch as Iqbal Abdullah has walked out to bat alongside Adtiya Tare. Madhya Pradesh would need to keep picking wickets, as Mumbai do not have enough batting left in their ranks. Mumbai need 92 more to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 178/5 (Target: 280) | Overs 38.3 | Batting: Aditya Tare 22 (39): Trouble for Mumbai as Siddhesh Lad has been dismissed by Ankit Sharma for 18 runs off 22 balls. Mumbai still need more than 100 runs to win but they do not have much batting left in their ranks. All onus is on the captain Aditya Tare to steer them through. OUT! Siddhesh Lad c Harpreet Singh Bhatia b Ankit Sharma 18 (22)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 141/4 (Target: 280) | Overs 31 | Batting: Aditya Tare 8 (13), Siddhesh Lad 1(3): Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal was followed by Jay Bista’s, as Madhya Pradesh have slowly got themselves back into this contest. Siddhesh Lad and Aditya Tare are at the crease, but the pressure is there on Mumbai more than what they would have expected. Mumbai need 139 to win with 6 wickets in hand.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 121/2 (Target: 280) | Overs 25 | Batting: Jay Bista 71 (88), Surya Kumar Yadav 12(9): Shreyas Iyer fell for 36 runs but Mumbai are in command against Madhya Pradesh in this chase. Surya Kumar Yadav has joined Jay Bista in the middle and they have carried on in the same passion. Madhya Pradesh need breakthroughs to make a comeback in this match.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 57/1 (Target: 280) | Overs 10 | Batting: Jay Bista 34 (35), Shreyas Iyer 21(25): Jay Bista and Shreyas Iyer have steadied the ship for Mumbai, and the tourists are looking comfortable in their chase against Madhya Pradesh. They have added 55 runs for the second wicket, and MP will need quick wickets to bounce back.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Mumbai 20/1 (Target: 280) | Overs 4 | Batting: Jay Bista 9 (15), Shreyas Iyer 10(6): Mumbai are chasing a tricky total. In the previous game against Railways they chased down a similar total but here against Madhya Pradesh they have already lost an early wicket in Akhil Herwadkar. It is crucial for Mumbai to stage a big partnership here with Iyer at the crease. Herwadkar was dismissed by Jalaj  Saxena.

Shardul Thakur and Iqbal Abdulla were the chief wicket-takers for their side, recording three scalps each for 33 and 53 runs respectively. Mumbai resumed on Day Two  at 74 for six and thanks to some gritty bating by their lower-order they managed more than 100 runs before losing all wickets.

Iqbal Abdulla (21), Shardul Thakur (18), Vishal Dabholkar (16) and Ankush Jaiswal (20 not out) all contributed in their team’s cause. Jalaj Saxena (5 for 66) and Ankit Sharma (5 for 80) took five wickets each for the hosts.

Earlier in the match, MP were bowled out for 240 in their first innings, with Harpreet Singh top-scoring for his side with a 155-ball 59, while Ankush Jaiswal recorded 4 for 63 to top the Mumbai bowling figures.

Mumbai currently top the group  after winning three out of their six games, with the remaining being drawn. They defeated Punjab by an innings, and pulled off a comfortable six-wicket victory after being set a target of 295 by Railways. They however, had to fight tooth and nail against Tamil Nadu, pulling off a closely-fought one-wicket win.
