  • 3:07 AM IST

This partnership between Holder and Bishoo has again put West Indies in pole position. They have put on 43 runs in 43 deliveries. Despite getting the quick wickets of Chase and Dowrich on consecutive deliveries, Pakistan have again let go off the grip!

And wait! There’s a twist in the tale here. Yasir Shah is on a hat-trick! He cleaned up Shane Dowrich the very next ball. Yasir bowled in from round the wicket and the ball spins from outside the leg stump. Dowrich was too casual in his drive and the ball did not bounce as much as he would have expected to. Gets an inside edge and his woodwork is cleaned up!

  • 2:42 AM IST

What a catch was that from Wahab Riaz! He has taken a stunner to dismiss Roston Chase! Take a bow! Chase decided to go for a maximum against Yasir Shah. The ball went very high and cleared mid-off. Wahab ran backwards facing up – eyes on the ball. He then lunges himself with one hand stretched to grab hold of the ball. And while doing so he slides towards the boundary rope but stops well inside.

  • 2:24 AM IST

The new ball has not helped Pakistan much. Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich continue to score runs easily. Mohammad Aamer has been bowling well but given the concentration, these two have right now things are going the West Indies way!

  • 2:12 AM IST

New ball has been taken and Misbah has immediately gone to Mohammad Aamer who has the best bowler for Pakistan today!

  • 2:06 AM IST

Shane Dowrich seems to have shifted his batting gears here. He looked awkward initially and there were some nervous moments for him against Yasir. But since the third session, Dowrich has looked very comfortable and has scored runs with some cracking boundaries!

  • 1:48 AM IST

That is fifty for Roston Chase! Second half-century of his career.

  • 1:36 AM IST

So we are back for the 3rd session of the first day. But just in case, if you missed out on the live action, here’s the in detailed tea report!

  • 1:10 AM IST

Pakistan asked for a review against Shane Dowrich off Yasir Shah’s bowling. On-field umpire turned it down right away but Yasir forced Misbah to take one. It was pitched well outside the leg-stump. So there was no point in going ahead. Pakistan lose their review and Chase-Dowrich continue to frustrate the visitors.

  • 12:59 AM IST

  • 12:56 AM IST

Bust despite this, even if Pakistan get ONE wicket here before the second session ends, they will again be back in the game!

  • 12:56 AM IST

Definitely not the way Misbah would have wanted the second session to go by! They have got only 1 wicket in this second session of Kieron Powell and the rest has just been forgetful for the visitors.

  • 12:54 AM IST

Wahab Riaz has been wayward every now and then giving away loose deliveries. This has made West Indies score some valuable runs and this is actually letting Pakistan frustrate!

  • 12:52 AM IST

Chase and Dowrich have played patient cricket not taking any risks. Yasir Shah has not at all been probing today. Just futile letting the pressure off!

  • 12:25 AM IST

  • 12:23 AM IST

All the pressure created by pacers has gone for a toss. Roston Chase hit one straight over Yasir Shah’s head for a maximum – the first six of the game. And also 50-run stand for 6th wicket. A very important one for West Indies given the way they started off!

If he continues to bowl like this, Yasir is definitely going to let off the pressure!

And even Misbah will have to rethink his strategies!

Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of first day’s play of the first Test between Pakistan and West Indies at Sabina Park, Jamaica. With Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 hogging the limelight in the cricketing fraternity, Test cricket comes back to action with Pakistan taking on West Indies in the Caribbean island on Friday. The first of the three-Test series will begin for both sides with an aim to start their transition campaign on a good note. While the transition has been long-lasting for the hosts, visitors will be hoping for their youngsters to step up with two legendary batsmen, Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, calling it quits after the series. Live Cricket Scorecard, Pakistan vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 1

The onus will be on Misbah and Younis who are not only entering their last international series, but also stand on the verge of registering few landmarks. Younis’ run tally stands at 9,977 and is only 23 runs short of registering 10,000-run mark, first to do so for Pakistan. On the other hand, Misbah is just 49 runs shy from entering the 5,000-run mark in whites. Both the duo will like to get going from the first Test and deliver in their last series. Pakistan are currently ranked 5th in the ICC Test rankings and will look up to this series as a chance to reach the top four.

Talking about West Indies, they are languishing at the 8th spot, but they will look up to their last Test versus Pakistan for some inspiration. Trailing 0-2 in the three-Test series in 2016, they came back hard in the dead rubber to register a win and earn some respite. Jason Holder will want his men to carry on from where they left against the opponents, playing at home. This will also be the 50th Test at Sabina Park and both sides will look to make it special for the spectators. However, rain is expected to play a spoilsport in all five days of the Test.
