A fantastic game for Pakistan! They came back superbly and will hope to carry on the good work further. Sri Lanka will hope to go back to the drawing board and find a way to get back in the series. Hope you enjoyed our coverage, it’s adios. Take care!

Misbah-ul-Haq: (On toss) It was clear in our minds, the only way we can win is by taking wickets early since the game was reduced. Hats off to everyone, the way Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed gave us the chance to win the match. At the end, wonderful performance and wonderful team effort. A big win for us, we’ve been losing series here, we were just hoping to win here and it is a confidence boost. (On Rangana Herath) We practiced a lot to play against him, using the feet was an option and we wanted to positive since we could not let him bowl to us. (On Yasir Shah) Whenever you have left-handers at other end, and with footmarks, leg-spinner always work. He is a much improved bowler, his performance was a key to u winning the Tests. You just go with the same discispline and be consitent be your performances. Our aim was to just win and mental approach is same and must do the basics.

Man of the Match, Sarfraz Ahmed: Thanks to Allah, happy with my performance. I am playing my natural game, team management also demands. I practice a lot with Grant Flower and batting coach Aslam. Next time, I am in nineties and will be more careful.

Angelo Mathews: It was a poor game for us, we did not bat well and credit to Pakistan for the way they  batted. We kept losing wickets today after Lunch. We bowled pretty well in matches, hopefully we can turn it around in a couple of days. We must trust our players and hope they come good. (On his dismissal) That ‘s how the game goes, people make mistakes, overall it was a good game from Pakistan.

Live cricket score: Pakistan 92/0 | Overs 11.2 – Pakistan win by 10 wickets, take 1-0 series lead

Mohammad Hafeez 46(33) Ahmed Shehzad 43(35)

That is it! Pakistan have won the game by 10 wickets and have finally won a game in Sri Lanka in 2006! What a game for them! They posted a big total after being in a precarious position and then Yasir Shah’s 7 for 76 put them on top. The openers then have scored the runs and sealed the win in style.

Live cricket score: Pakistan 70/0 | Overs 9 – Need 20 more runs to win

Mohammad Hafeez 32(27) Ahmed Shehzad 38(33)

Pakistan are winning this on a canter as there seems to be nothing which is holding them back from winning this Test. Both Shehzad and Hafeez are finding the gaps and scoring runs at will.

Live cricket score: Pakistan 27/0 | Overs 6 – Need 63 more runs to win

Mohammad Hafeez 19(21) Ahmed Shehzad 8(15)

No worries so far for Pakistan as they milk runs at will. Rangana Herath did trap Hafeez in front of the stumps but the umpire ruled it not out and despite a review from Sri Lanka, it was not out as the ball was spinning down the leg side. They need more 63 runs to win and seem to be on course for it.

Live cricket score: Pakistan 6/0 | Overs 1 – Need 84 more runs to win

Mohammad Hafeez 6(6) Ahmed Shehzad 0(0)

Rangana Herath starts for Sri Lanka as they attempt to defend 90 runs. Mohammad Hafeez gets off the mark with a couple. Ahmed Shehzad waits at the other end. Can Sri Lanka script something miraculous here?

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 206| Overs 77.1 – Lead by 89 – Tea

 Nuwan Pradeep 0(9)

That is it! Sri Lanka have been bundled out for 206.  What a performance from Pakistan, they now need just 90 runs to win the Test and take the lead. Sri Lanka will be disappointed with the way they have batted. None of their batsmen applied themselves enough to fight it out on a pitch which was not that unplayable. Yasir Shah though was a star for Pakistan with his 7 for 76! Chandimal was the last man to get dismissed as he was stumped for 38.

OUT! D Chandimal st Sarfraz b Shah 38(78)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 203/9| Overs 74- Lead by 86

Dinesh Chandimal 35(61) Nuwan Pradeep 0(2)

Another one falls as Yasir Shah picks up his sixth wicket. This is really poor batting from Sri Lanka and they are going rather quickly. Herath has just come in and instead of giving strike to Chandimal, he goes for the glory shot and holes out to mid-wicket.

OUT! R Herath c Hafeez b Shah 1(4)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 201/8| Overs 73- Lead by 84

Dinesh Chandimal 34(60) Rangana Herath 1(1)

Sri Lanka are just about holding on as the ball starts to turn and bounce a lot more now. Dhammika Prasad has been solid too. There is an appeal for a leg before. The umpire says no but Pakistan review and the right decision is made and Prasad survives. But he loses his mind the very next ball as he attempts to hoick and is stumped by a long distance.

OUT! D Prasad st Sarfraz b Babar 2(19)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 194/7| Overs 70- Lead by 77

Dinesh Chandimal 28(56) Dhammika Prasad 2(6)

Dinesh Chandimal is starting to look for runs now as Sri Lanka are in grave danger here. Dhammika Prasad is happy to just defend his way through here.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 175/7| Overs 66- Lead by 58

Dinesh Chandimal 11(35) Dhammika Prasad 0(3)

Poor batting from Sri Lanka here. Kithuruwan Vithanage looks to go big and holes out to deep square leg. There was no need to play that shot and Yasir Shah now has five wickets. Pakistan are closing in on the win.

OUT! K Vithanage c Babar b Shah 1(12)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 175/6| Overs 65- Lead by 58

Dinesh Chandimal 11(35) Kithuruwan Vithanage 1(9)

A total brainfade from Karunaratne who wishes to go big against Shah and is stumped nicely by Sarfraz Ahmed. This is trouble for Sri Lanka. Kithuruwan Vithanage is the new man in for Sri Lanka.

OUT! D Karunaratne st Sarfraz b Shah 79 (173)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 156/5| Overs 59- Lead by 39

Dinesh Chandimal 1(17) Dimuth Karunaratne 73(164)

The pressure is firmly on Sri Lanka as they look to bat out the day. Wahab Riaz has other issues to deal with too now, he has just received his second warning for following through on the danger area.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 144/5| Overs 54- Lead by 27

Dinesh Chandimal 0(4) Dimuth Karunaratne 63(146)

Yasir Shah begins the session after the Lunch break. He is right on the money as there is an appeal for a bat pad at short leg of Angelo Mathews. He is given out and he rightly reviews it. But to his horror the third umpire upholds the call and is given out. What a strike for Pakistan. Angelo is not at all happy.  Dinesh Chandimal is the new man in.

OUT! Angelo Mathews c Ali b Shah 5(16)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 144/4| Overs 53- Lead by 27 – Lunch

Angelo Mathews 5(14) Dimuth Karunaratne 63(146)

Both the batsmen have played out reverse swinging deliveries from Wahab Riaz to see through to Lunch on Day Five. A very good session for Pakistan, they started the session with the wicket of Dilruwan Perera and finished with a wicket of Lahiru Thirimanne at the stroke of the Lunch. Dimuth Karunaratne though has been solid and scored his fifth Test fifty. Sri Lanka though have a lead of just 27 runs and are still someway away from being out of danger.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 133/4| Overs 50- Lead by 16

Angelo Mathews 0(10) Dimuth Karunaratne 62(132)

Wahab Riaz is called back on and he strikes right away as he has Thirimanne caught at first slip by Younis Khan. An inspiring bowling change from him. Angelo Mathews comes out to bat with just little time left to Lunch.

OUT! Lahiru Thirimanne c Younis b Riaz 44(95)

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 132/3 | Overs 48- Lead by 15

Lahiru Thirimanne 44(94) Dimuth Karunaratne 61(131)

Misba-ul-Haq calls back Junaid Khan for a bowl. The runs are not coming that well but Karunaratne is looking really good here for Sri Lanka. how long can they bat like this is the key. There is just slight reverse swing happening here for Junaid.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 120/3 | Overs 42- Lead by 3

Lahiru Thirimanne 41(79) Dimuth Karunaratne 52(110)

Runs have suddenly dried up for Sri Lanka as Babar is starting to trouble the batsmen with some extra bounce. They are finally into the lead and are effectively three for three and will hope to convert into a big one.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 113/3 | Overs 37- Trail by 4

Lahiru Thirimanne 36(62) Dimuth Karunaratne 50(97)

Dimuth Karunaratne brings up his fifth Test fifty and has looked very solid in his stay at the crease so far. Sri Lanka will hope he continues to bat like this to see through the day for them. The 50-run stand is also up between the two southpaws.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 101/3 | Overs 33 – Trail by 16

Lahiru Thirimanne 27(46) Dimuth Karunaratne 47(89)

Pakistan is trying everything to get a breakthrough as both the batsmen are content to just defend and not take any undue risk. Karunaratne is nearing his fifty and will hope to not let that distract him from his main job of playing through.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 84/3 | Overs 28 – Trail by 33

Lahiru Thirimanne 16(23) Dimuth Karunaratne 41(82)

Karunaratne has looked compact, and has used his feet well to the spinners. Thirimanne has looked a bit edgy and will want to get into his groove soon as Shah continues to be impressive. Thirimanne is starting to flow.

Live cricket score: Sri Lanka 63/3 | Overs 22 – Trail by 54

Lahiru Thirimanne 0(5) Dimuth Karunaratne 36(64)

We’re starting on time again! It is bright and sunny! Can Pakistan force a result? Dilruwan Perera and Dimuth Karunaratne are the two batsmen for Sri Lanka, Pakistan start with Yasir Shah! And what a start, Perera leaves the first ball of the day, which is on the stumps, and is bowled. Pakistan are off to a terrific start. Lahiru Thirimanne is the new man in.

OUT! Dilruwan Perera b Shah 0(6)
