Dimuth Karunaratne and Denesh Chandimal were the stars with the bat for Sri Lanka with scored of 186 and 151 respectively. Skipper Angelo Mathews too made a useful 48. West Indies’ first target on Day Three will be to avoid the follow on, which is still 219 runs away. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Sri Lanka vs West Indies 2015, 1st Test at Galle, Day 3

And it is the end of the day’s play. Stumps Day 3:

Live cricket score West Indies 67/2 | 27 overs | Batting: Darren Bravo 20(44), Devendra Bishoo 6(12): Big man Herath gets the opener Braithwaite for the second time in the match. The delivery on which he got him drifted in on middle, as Brathwaite misread it and played down the wrong line. Herath made a huge appeal, to which the Umpire Marais Erasmus agreed. Braithwaite reviewed it, only to be disappointed as the decision stayed. Night-watchman Devendra Bishoo comes out in the middle.

West Indies have reviewed an lbw decision given against Braithwaite. The decision stays, he is OUT!

Live cricket score West Indies 59/1 | 22 overs | Batting: Kraigg Braithwate 33(71), Darren Bravo 19(30): After the early wicket, the two West Indian batters are steering the ship steadily. Bravo has decided to take the attack to the opposition, as he smacked two sixes off debutant Siriwardena. Hope on the other hand looks calm and composed at the moment. Herath has replaced Siriwardena in a bid to tighten up the things a bit. Tharindu Kaushal is bowling well from the other end, getting huge turn on some occasions. Meanwhile, the umpires are checking for bad light.

Live cricket score West Indies 33/1 | 14 overs | Batting: Kraigg Braithwate 25(46), Darren Bravo 2(6): Debutant Milinda Siriwardena is delighted to take his maiden Test wicket. Hope becomes his first victim, as he drags one from Siriwardena onto his stumps off a thick inside edge. This is not the start West Indies would have expected following-on. Dwayne Bravo has joined Braithwaite now in the middle and the two would look to get a partnership going. The Lankan spinners on the other hand are looking in a destructive mode.

OUT! Shai Hope b Siriwardena 6(32)

Live cricket score West Indies 13/0 | 9 overs | Batting: Kraigg Braithwate 7(26), Shai Hope 6(28), : West Indies have been forced to bat again after a disappointing performance in the first innings. Following-on, their openers Shai Hope and Kraigg Braithwate have started on a cautious note. Sri Lanka have started the operations with Rangana Herath, who was West Indies’ chief tormentor in the first innings. For the Caribbean side, to make a comeback from here is going to be extremely difficult. They already trail by a huge margin and whether they can escape an innings defeat will be interesting to see.

Live cricket score West Indies 251 | 82 overs | Batting: Devendra Bishoo 23(48): That’s the fifer Rangana Herath has been striving for had has deserved every bit of it. He taken Kemar Roach’s wicket getting him stumped and then got the wicket of Shannon Gabriel the very next ball bowled as the latter chose to go for a big hoick and missed. And Sri Lanka with a lead of over 233 runs have chosen to enforce the follow on. OUT! Kemar Roach 22 (88) st Perera b Herath, OUT! Shannon Gabriel 0(1) b Herath

Live cricket score West Indies 241/8 | 77 overs | Batting: Kemar Roach 19(66), Devendra Bishoo 16(33): Given the usual weaknesses of the West Indian tail with the bat and the poor show by the top order and middle order one would have expected the tail would have collapsed easily but they have been a face of resilience today. Kemar Roach’s defence was quite impressive, Bishoo mixed caution with aggression while Jerome Taylor gave the innings a run-a-ball 31 boost prior to being dismissed by Tharindu Kaushal. Jerome Taylor 31(31) c Mathews b Kaushal

Live cricket score West Indies 172/7 | 59 overs | Batting: Kemar Roach 2(18), Jerome Taylor 1(3): West Indies unimpressive show goes on with Denesh Ramdin getting out to a rash shot against Nuwan Pradeep. It’s just the tailenders now and it is highly improbable that they will get to a score where they can avoid a follow on. Jerome Taylor is at the crease now. OUT! Denesh Ramdin 23(66) c Perera b Pradeep

Live cricket score West Indies 165/6 | 55 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 23(62), Kemar Roach 0(2): Dhammika Prasad has come out on top of a short but electric contest with Jason Holder. Holder was looking to take him head on and smashed him for a couple of boundaries, Prasad came back with a probing delivery just outside off stump and it nipped away from the batsman and took the edge on way to a keeper. OUT! Jason Holder 19(28) c Perera b Prasad

Live cricket score West Indies 157/5 | 54 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 23(62), Jason Holder 11(24): So far the going has been good for West Indies in this session as they have not lost a wicket yet. However, they did survive a scare when Holder was ruled out of a short ball that hit him on the shoulder and bumped off to slip. But on review it was overturned. They have not shied from playing shots of anything short and full. They are looking to put the pressure on the Sri Lankans but this is West Indies’ last respectable batting pair and they’ll need to be around for long.

Live cricket score West Indies 134/5 | 48 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 11(41), Jason Holder 0(9): Yet another failed session for West Indies. The loss of Darren Bravo who was looking so good will hurt most as the West Indians sit down for thoughtful lunch. The onus is now on Ramdin and Holder to try and save West Indies the blushes of a follow-on.

Live cricket score West Indies 132/5 | 43 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 10(34), Jason Holder 0(4): What a fantastic catch at short mid on to get rid of the big fish Bravo by Dinesh Chandimal off Herath’s bowling. Bravo dragged the ball outside off with the inside half of the bat and found the hands of a diving Chandimal and that was his unfortunate end. Chances of avoiding the follow on look slim now. OUT! Darren Bravo 50(108) c Chandimal b Herath

Live cricket score West Indies 132/4 | 43 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 10(28), Darren Bravo 50(105): That’s been a nice knock by Darren Bravo for his fifty. His innings has been quite flawless and has even witnessed a few delicious drives and some brutal pulls. He has been the only batsman for Sri Lanka to have stood out so far. It is required of him to score a hundred. If he does that West Indies will be in a position to avoid follow on.

Live cricket score West Indies 112/4 | 37 overs | Batting: Denesh Ramdin 1(4), Darren Bravo 41(86): Dhammika Prasad has got rid of an impatient and careless Jermaine Blackwood. It was a back of a length delivery with width outside off but Blackwood slashed at it with zero footwork and paid the price as the man at slips took the catch after a fumble. OUT! Jermaine Blackwood 11(37) c Siriwardana b Prasad

Live cricket score West Indies 87/3 | 32 overs | Batting: Jermaine Blackwood 5(21), Darren Bravo 27(72): The morning has not been the most welcoming for the West Indians. Marlon Samuels became the third victim of Rangana Herath after just 11 runs to his name which leaves Jermaine Blackwood and Darren Bravo at the crease. They need a mammoth partnership here. Darren Bravo has a start but Herath has made even him look unsteady.

Herath will once again be Sri Lanka’s main bowler on Day Three along with his spin partner Thaindu Kaushal. Fast bowlers Nuwan Pradeep and Dhammika Prasad have bowled well without any success so far. Mathews too is more than capable of picking up a wickets at crucial intervals and will take the ball if the need arises on Day Three. Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels are the two unbeaten batsmen for West Indies and will look to put on a good partnership to steer their team out of bother.
