Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 between Punjab and Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad. While the home team will be playing its first match in the tournament, the Punjab team is coming off a loss to the powerhouse Mumbai. Punjab lost their opening clash of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 to Mumbai by a margin of five wickets. The match was played at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad. Yuvraj Singh shone for Punjab with a run-a-ball innings of 93, but his effort went in vain as Punjab failed to prevent Mumbai going past their total.

It was a good cricket match between Punjab and Mumbai as the pitch had something for both the batsmen and the bowlers. Yuvraj Singh cracked six boundaries and as many sixes to score 93, as he was the top-scorer for his side. Manan Vohra scored 35 runs from 33 balls with six boundaries and a six. On the other hand, Pargat Singh and Gitansh Khera fell after scoring six runs each off 19 and 16 balls respectively.
Mandeep Singh scored 41 runs from 67 balls, Gurkeerat Singh Mann scored 20 off 23 balls, Mayank Siddana scored 21 off 19 balls. Punjab were bowled out for 254 in 48.1 overs.
When Mumbai walked out to bat, they lost their opener Akhil Herwadkar for nine runs off 14 balls. However, Jay Bista dropped anchor to score 92 off 87 balls with 12 boundaries and a six. Surya Kumar Yadav retired hurt at 38, while Abhishek Nayar and Shashank Singh scored 44 and 39 respectively.
