Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog of the ninth match of the West Indies Tri-Nation Series between West Indies and South Africa at Bridgetown, Barbados. I am Shruti Hariharan, and I will bring you all the live updates and scores from this thriller of a contest. South Africa are well ahead of West Indies in terms of run-rate. However, if the hosts win the contest by a huge margin, they will battle against Australia in the final on June 26. Hence, whichever team applies itself sensibly and display nerves of steel will eventually reach the ultimate stage of what has been a spectacular series. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: West Indies vs South Africa, Tri-Nation Series, 9th ODI at Barbados

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 185 in 46 overs | TARGET 286 | Morne Morkel 32 (47): West Indies finally seal their place in Tri-Nation series final and will meet Australia on Sunday. South Africa’s Mornel Morkel tried all his best to push his side to the finishing line, but single handedly it was impossible. Imran Tahir also complimented him and also put up 51 runs stand that was dusted immedistely as Tahir was caught by Ramdin.

OUT! Imran Tahir c Denesh Ramdin b Carlos Brathwaite 29(24)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 168/9 in 43 overs | TARGET 286 | Morne Morkel 28 (40), Imran Tahir 16 (13): Kasigo Rabada was gone for a quick run out and entered Imran Tahir. Morne Morkel was seen showing some skills with the bat as he smashed some boundaries to keep the run rate intact. West Indies tried to review many run out appeals that did not go their way. South Africa aiming to play till the 50th over even though they might not just reach the target easily. Another 7 overs to go and 118 to win.

OUT! Kasigo Rabada run out (Nurse/Ramdin) 9(15)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 119/8 in 34 overs | TARGET 286 | Kasigo Rabada 8 (11), Morne Morkel 1 (3): South Africa might as well complete their innings soon as two more wickets are down. That leaves them with just 2 wickets to go. Although the run rate that West Indies were aiming to win with might be reduced as South Africa have managed to go past 100 runs. Another 16 overs to go to decide who will meet Australia in the finals.

OUT! Wayne Parnell c (sub)J Carter b Sunil  Narine 28(58)

OUT! Farhaan Behardien c Charles b Brathwaite 35(57)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 89/6 in 26 overs | TARGET 286 | Farhaan Behardien 33 (53), Wayne Parnell 9 (28): South Africa are moving at slow pace and luckily have not lost any wicket yet. West Indies are trying to still gain control over visitors and trying to pick wickets as soon as they can to end the innings. South Africa still need 197 to win out of 24 overs and slightly looks dicey at the moment as the game still lies to the hosts.

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 68/6 in 19 overs | TARGET 286 | Farhaan Behardien 19 (35), Wayne Parnell 2 (4): The game is easily tilting towards the Caribbean’s after scalping wickets in quick succession. South Africa lose three more wickets with Amla, Morris and JP Duminy making their way out. Windies are definitely aiming to secure their berth in the final at a quick pace and instantly. Gabriel has already got three wickets to himself while Sunil Narine has got two. South Africa will badly need a partnership here to keep the momentum going towards their side.

OUT! Chris Morris c Kieron Pollard b Sunil Narine 7(8)

OUT! JP Duminy c Suliemann Benn b Jason Holder 5(7)

OUT! Hashim Amla lbw b Sunil Narine 16(36)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 34/3 in 11 overs | TARGET 286 | Hashim Amla 16 (35), Farhaan Behardien 5 (7): South Africa look in deep trouble with constant fall of wickets. After de Kock, du Plessis and de Villiers were also found making their way out. West Indies Shannon Gabriel shone with all three wickets to his name. Amla is also found moving at slow pace after witnessing constant fall of wickets. Farhaan Behardien made his way to crease and hopefully could get a strong partnership as that is what is needed for South Africa at the moment.

OUT! de Villiers c Denesh Ramdin b Shannon Gabriel 2(10)

OUT! du Plessis lbw b Shannon Gabriel 3(8)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  South Africa 24/1 in 5 overs | TARGET 286 | Hashim Amla 13 (18), Faf du Plessis 3 (6): South Africa begin their innings although did not receive the start they were aiming for. Shannon Gabriel earned his first wicket of Quinton de Kock who was dismissed for 6 off 6. Faf du Plessis has made his way into the crease at No.3. Interestingly, South Africa are already 23 runs up in 5 overs now. But they would need to pick the pace to reach this target and earn that final spot.

OUT! Quinton de Kock 6 (6) c Denesh Ramdin b Shannon Gabriel

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 285 in 49.5 overs | Carlos Brathwaite 33 (42): Jason Holder was dismissed immediately for 40 off 46. Soon wickets kept falling but Brathwaite remained witnessing the wickets going down. Yet West Indies managed to achieve a huge target on board of 285 although they were bowled out for 285. South Africa have task on hand to achieve 286 and all their key batsmen need to step up. West Indies will be badly wanting to reach the final spot.

OUT! Sunil Narine run out 1 (Chris Morris)

OUT! Suliemann Benn 5 (5) c JP Duminy b Chris Morris

OUT! Shannon Gabriel run out 2 (Wayne Parnell)

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 262/6 in 45 overs | Jason Holder 39 (44), Carlos Brathwaite 22 (30): This time Darren Bravo had to make his way through after securing his 3rd ODI ton. Soon it was their hard-hitter Carlos Brathwaite coming into picture. West Indies achieved just what they needed. Both the batsmen secured 50-runs stand off just 48 deliveries, thanks to those huge sixes and boundaries. Some also went beyond the stadium with the ball never to be found. It’s the 45th over and another 5 overs, Windies could easily post a grand total of 280-plus.

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 199/5 in 35 overs | Darren Bravo 101 (101), Jason Holder 0 (16): Kieron Pollard had to make his way after a sloppy shot that was comfortably caught by Faf du Plessis. The 149-run partnership came to stand still after South Africa managed to get another wicket to their side. Skipper Jason Holder entered the crease to support Bravo on the other side. West Indies are still in command of the game with Bravo achieving his 3rd ODI century in 100 deliveries. Easily West Indies can go past 250 mark if these batsmen continue their innings.

OUT! Kieron Pollard 62(71) c Faf du Plessis b Morne Morkel

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 173/4 in 29 overs | Darren Bravo 79 (84), Kieron Pollard 61 (68): After fall of early wickets, West Indies have picked it well. They have gone past 150 mark with Bravo and Pollard smashing their shits all over the ground. Bravo achieved his fifty first followed by Pollard’s blistering knock. West Indies were in dire need of partnership and it came in at the right time. South Africa are unable to get any wickets at the moment despite change in variations and spin brought into attack.

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 73/4 in 14 overs | Darren Bravo 40 (40), Kieron Pollard 9 (20): And the game begins again, rains were short lived. Bravo and Pollard are cruising it for West Indies after struggling in the initial overs. South Africa are still looking get wickets on hand to finish off early. West Indies needs this partnership to command over the game from the Proteas.

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 50/4 in 10.5 overs | Darren Bravo 21 (28), Kieron Pollard 6 (13): And the rains come in that stops the play, the ground staff have come with covers. Pollard and Bravo were just gaining the momentum in the game, just then the rains play spoil sport. Bravo and Pollard have put up 29 runs stand so far with a six and four in this over already. Hopefully this should not turn out to be like the previous South Africa vs West Indies game where the rains washed out the entire match. Lets hope that the match begins soon.

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 33/4 in 8 overs | Darren Bravo 9 (16), Kieron Pollard 2 (8): West Indies look in deep trouble after four wickets down. Crisis man Kieron Pollard enters the crease. Rabada is on fire grabbing three wickets already, providing the perfect start for South Africa. Wayne Parnell is back for the 8th over, Bravo is on strike. South Africa are trying to their best to concede very few runs and get going with the wickets. West Indies looking to find the right gap and a strong partnership.

OUT! Denesh Ramdin  4(7) b Rabada

Live Cricket Scorecard |  West Indies 17/3 in 4 overs | Darren Bravo 4 (6), Denesh Ramdin 0 (1): West Indies are in huge trouble, with Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher and Marlon Samuels dismissed within 3 overs. Kagiso Rabada bowled an absolute jaffa to castle Samuels on a duck. He was on a duck but bowled a wide delivery. Now, the onus will be on Darren Bravo and Denesh Ramdin to build a partnership and take the hosts out of the woods.

OUT! Andre Fletcher c de Kock b Parnell 8 (6)

OUT! Charles c C Morris b Rabada 4 (10)

OUT! Samuels b Rabada 0 (1)

TOSS: South Africa won the toss and elected to field

Playing XI:

West Indies: Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite, Jason Holder (c), Sunil Narine, Sulieman Benn, Shannon Gabriel

West Indies captain Jason Holder is racing against time, as he injured his hamstring in West Indies’ previous contest against Australia. He bowled only two overs and left the field. In his absence, Kieron Pollard led the team, which eventually West Indies lost by 6 wickets. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see who captains the hosts if Holder fails the fitness test.

South Africa, on the other hand, won a game each against Australia and South Africa, and have been blowing hot and cold so far. In the previous contest between the Proteas and West Indies, legspinner Imran Tahir ran through West Indies batting line-up and scalped 7 wickets, conceding 45 runs. He was adjudged Player of the Match for his spectacular performance.

It promises to be a thriller of a contest, as there is no margin for error for both the teams.
