Sri Lanka have put them in the driver’s seat going into the second day of the first Test against West Indies at Galle. They reached 250 for 2 at the close of play on Day One and look well on course to get to a score in excess of 500, which will surely put the West Indies batsmen under a lot of pressure. Sri Lanka opener Dimuth Karunaratne scored an unbeaten ton and along with Dinesh Chandimal has put on 149 runs for the third wicket so far. West Indies will have to cut the run-flow on Day Two else it might see them on the back foot this early in the match. With skipper Angelo Mathews, Milinda Siriwardana and Kusal Perera to follow, Sri Lanka certainly can  set West Indies a huge first innings score. Devendra Bishoo and Kemar Roach were the only wicket-takers for West Indies, on a day when all the bowlers toiled hard to get anything out of the surface. This is the first Test West Indies are playing since the appointment of Jason Holder as their Test skipper. Holder is already leading West Indies in the One-Day Internationals (ODI). Holder takes over from Denesh Ramdin, who led West Indies in 13 Tests. READ: Dimuth Karunaratne’s ton makes it Sri Lanka’s day against West Indies in first Test at Galle

Kaushal Silva and Lahiru Thirimanne will be disappointed at missing out, scoring just 17 and 16 respectively. Skipper Angelo Mathews will come in at No.5 and he has been in sparkling form of late. He will look to continue his good form when he gets a chance to bat. Both West Indies and Sri Lanka are going into the series at the back of series defeats and will desperately want to get a series win.
