Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on Gujarat Lions (GL) in this contest at the IS Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Unlike Gujarat, Punjab still have a chance to make it to IPL 10 playoffs and they will look forward to maximise the opportunity of Hashim Amla playing his last game of the tournament. KXIP will hope to inflict more damage on the injury-marred Gujarat side, who have now lose the services of Brendon McCullum, after losing out star players like Dwayne Bravo and Andrew Tye earlier this season.
GL were one of the most impressive sides in the 2016 edition and the Suresh Raina-led unit will like to end the tournament somewhere in the middle of the table and have plenty of pride to play for. KXIP have been riding on the form of all-rounder Akshar Patel, Hashim Amla and Sandeep Sharma. Consistency has been a problem for the hosts with the middle-order not firing. Wriddhiman Saha’s form has not helped either. For KXIP, this is as good as a must-win contest. After languishing at the bottom for two seasons, KXIP will look forward to make amends and eye a playoff berth.
