  • 11:25 PM IST
A six and 3 singles off Mohit Sharma’s over. KKR need 20 off 6. Sandeep sharma to bowl the last over.

Reminder: if Kings XI Punjab lose today, Rising Pune Supergiant, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs.
  • 11:19 PM IST

Oh, boy! The tides have turned. Pandey holes out to Akshar Patel after he completed 50-run stand with Lynn who gets run out the next ball. Again, it was Akshar Patel who hails a brilliant throw to dismiss the main man. Crowd on its feet. Priety Zinta dances. Yusuf Pathan and Colin de Grandhomme in the middle. 8 runs and 2 wickets off the over. KKR need 29 off 12.

  • 11:12 PM IST

Back of the hand. Knuckle ball. Off-cutter. Mohit Sharma tries everything to keep Lynn and Pandey at bay. Gives only 3 runs off 5 balls, but bowls full under Lynn’s bat and he smacks it down the ground. KKR need 37 off 18.

  • 11:03 PM IST

Sadeep Sharma, KXIP’s most successful bowler this season, is back into the attack. 6 singles off 6 balls. Excellent bowling. Aimed at the stumps, all full and straight. Top-drawer cricket. KKR need 44 off 24.

  • 10:56 PM IST

End of a brilliant spell for Tewatia: 4-0-18-2. Another leg-spinner shines in IPL 2017. KKR need 62 off 36.

  • 10:52 PM IST

11 off Swapnil Singh’s over. Lynn booms a six over long-on. No need to panic for KXIP despite the bad over. Both teams were 97 for 3 at this stage.

  • 10:43 PM IST
No, no, no. KKR are reduced to 78 for 3. Lynn has scored 51 of them. Gambhir and Uthappa fall in the same over. Rahul Tewatia on fire. KKR need 89 off 60. Can KXIP win it from here?

Reminder: if Kings XI Punjab lose today, Rising Pune Supergiant, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs.
  • 10:37 PM IST

50 off 29 for Chris Lynn, his consecutive after shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Gambhir falls for 8 off 18. Enter Robin Uthappa. KKR need 90 off 64.

  • 10:31 PM IST

Tewatia into the attack. Good ploy by Maxwell, taking pace off the ball. This may as well fetch them a wicket. If not that, he has at least managed to put a lid on the runs. Only 4 runs off the over.

  • 10:23 PM IST

Lynnsanity strikes. Pulls a short delivery on the leg-side. Matt Henry, whose action is a reminescence of Shane Bond, smiles. He knows there is very little to do when Lynn is on strike. Henry then bowls a juicy full-toss, and Lynn sends it into the orbit.

  • 10:17 PM IST

Akshar Patel into the attack. Lynn collects two boundaries: drives the first one to cover fence, followed by a scythe past point. He has reached 30 off 15.

  • 10:11 PM IST

Finally a wicket. Mohit Sharma’s experience comes into play. Rolls his fingers, takes some pace off the ball, outfoxes Narine, and draws first blood. Enter Gautam Gambhir.

  • 10:02 PM IST

Do KKR openers comprehend fear at all? Lynn and Narine in no non-sense mood. They make batting look so easy. To the aspiring cricketers, I tell you, do not try this in the nets. This is mad skills. Do not upset your coach, unless he is not a traditionalist.

  • 9:59 PM IST

Narine starts off the chase with consecutive boundaries, all lofted. What is up with him? Rotates strike to Lynn and he treats Sandeep Sharma the same. Another boudnary. 14 runs off it. KKR on a rampage.

  • 9:54 PM IST

    **KKR innings**

  • 9:39 PM IST
19 runs off the last 2 overs. Tewatia’s late blitz takes KXIP to 167 for 6. Glenn Maxwell top-scores with 44.

Reminder: if Kings XI Punjab lose today, Rising Pune Supergiant, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs.
  • 9:23 PM IST

Saha has taken over now. He collects a six off Kuldeep, but the chinaman does it again. Saha departs. KXIP lose half their side. Saha goes for 38.

  • 9:14 PM IST

“It is balle-balle in the crowd,” says Ravi Shastri in the commentary box, after Maxwell hits consecutive sixes off Kuldeep. Gambhir has a word with the youngster. Kuldeep bowls outside off. Maxwell times it well but does not get enough elevation. Woakes, at long-off, takes brilliant catch, diving to his left.

  • 9:10 PM IST

Narine to bowl his remaining 2 overs in the last 6 overs. Good ploy, this, but Saha welcomes him with a boundary to cover. Despite that, only 8 runs off it. It is Narine, after all.

  • 9:04 PM IST

Kuldeep Yadav finally into the attack. He is KKR’s sixth bowling tonight. No boundary but KXIP collect 8 runs off it. Saha retains strike.

  • 8:55 PM IST

Fasten your seat belts. The Big Show is on a rampage. Consecutive sixes for Maxwell. They need him to fire on all cylinders. Reminder: if Kings XI Punjab lose today, Rising Pune Supergiant, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs.

  • 8:50 PM IST

Lynnn dives to his left, on his injured shoulder. He has a wry smile on his face. He knows he needs to be cautious on the field. KKR need him to qualify for the playoffs.

  • 8:37 PM IST

Woakes continues. KKR have done well so far to keep a lid on the runs. Another short delivery. Uthappa does well to pouch it. Is Woakes setting Marsh up? And, yes. Woakes bowls an absolute jaffa and dismantles Marsh’s defence. KXIP lose third wicket.

  • 8:34 PM IST

Another bowling change. De Grandomme to bowl his second over. He, too, bowls on off. Seldom have KKR bowled full. Top-drawer cricket, this. Marsh gets a boundary. Thick inside edge. And as I write this, Marsh plays a fine straight-drive to end the over.

  • 8:30 PM IST

End of batting powerplay. Woakes into attack. Bowls stump-to-stump. Does not give room. Excellent bowling. Only 4 runs off it.

  • 8:26 PM IST

A slip and forward short-leg for Marsh against Narine. Gambhir switches on aggressive brand of cricket. And out! Guptill makes no contact. Narine traps him in front. KXIP lose both openers. In comes Saha. Only 2 runs off the over. KKR on fire.

  • 8:21 PM IST

Umesh continues. Another bouncer. Vohra edges it in the air. Falls in no man’s land. Umesh follows it up with a slower ball. Vohra shimmies down and heaves it over mid-wicket. Third boundary for Vohra. Guptill taking back seat. Oh, boy. What a shot! Makes room and eases it over point. No, wait. Umesh makes amends. Vohra edges it to the wicketkeeper. 11 runs and a wicket off over the over.

  • 8:16 PM IST

Sunil Narine to bowl 4th over, and Vohra collects a boundary off the second ball. Nicely punched through cover. And then, he opens the face of the ball and guides it past wicketkeeper. No slip in place. Vohra on a roll. Narine under fire. 9 runs off the over.

  • 8:12 PM IST

Umesh continues. Lynn, on mic, says he is not 100 per cent fit. Well, well, well. Did he not score a fifty off 22 balls? What would he do when he is in the best of his fitness? This is brilliant bowling by KKR. They concede 19 runs off 3 overs.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of match 49 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. King XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh. This is Kaustubh S. Mayekar, and I will bring you live cricket scores and updates from this contest. This will be a do or die contest for KXIP as defeat will directly put them out of contention from qualifying from playoffs. Even if KXIP wins this contest then they will have continue doing the same in next two matches as well to keep their chances alive for qualifying for playoffs. Full Cricket Scorecard, KKR vs KXIP, Match 49

So far, both these teams have encountered 20 times in IPL history. KKR holds the upper hand with 14 wins and 6 defeats. Even when it comes to playing at Mohali, KKR has better record against KXIP there with three wins from five games. The last time both these teams clashed at Eden Gardens, where KKR opener Sunil Narine blistering batting ripped KXIP’s bowling attack with his short cameo of 18-ball 37. Narine’s attacking batting laid the foundation of victory for KKR in their chase of 171, which they completed in just 16.3 overs.

KXIP biggest worry has been their inconsistent bowling. There has been rarely any occasion when KXIP showed collective bowling performance. Ishant Sharma is expected to excluded from this match as he has been expensive, so as Varun Aaron as well. KXIP will look for someone else in place Aaron to win this match.
