India and West Indies meet for a Test series barely four months after India went to the Caribbean islands and emerged victorious. This will be their first Test series after the disastrous whitewash in England, and they will be up against a West Indies side which is high on confidence after their recent win in Bangladesh.
The good thing for India is that they are back to conditions which suit them, and this could be the best opportunity to taste victory in the longer format. Injuries and the disaster in England has forced the selectors to try a few new players and pick a young squad. While the batting line up looks familiar, most changes have been made in the bowling attack, which looked toothless in England.
West Indies, on paper, may not seem to be a major threat in Indian conditions but they would be quietly confident of doing well here.
They arrive in India barely a week after beating Bangladesh in a Test series, and the experience of playing on slow tracks there would definitely help them in India. They have made only one change to the squad that toured Bangladesh, with Adrian Barath returning post injury in place of Lendl Simmons. The batting line up, though fickle, has the firepower to surprise any attack on a given day.
