Karnataka and India batsman Robin Uthappa too hit the headlines as he smashed his first century in the 0ngoing season of the Ranji Trophy 2014-15.
The player who had a key role in India’s win in the ICC World Cup 2011, Yuvraj Singh was not named in the 30-member probables but he has been in terrific form. He has smashed three centuries in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2014-15 season and the injury to Ravindra Jadeja may help him earn a place back into the squad. The left-handed batsman has smashed consecutive centuries against Haryana, Maharashtra and Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler Mohit Sharma claimed a hat-trick on the morning of the squad selection, and the media is abuzz with the talks whether the selectors will give him a place in the squad. There are also reports in media that Murali Vijay, who has been in terrific form in the ongoing series in Australia, may find a place in the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup 2015.
India had announced their 30-member probables for the World Cup last month, wherein they had left out the star performers such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and left-arm pace spearhead Zaheer Khan. While there are no chances of others to be named, Yuvraj Singh has a possibility to break into the 15-member team.
Sachin Tendulkar, who was India’s inspiration in their World Cup campaign in 2011, has been named among the brand ambassadors for the ICC World Cup 2015 and he will also be writing columns for the International Cricket Council (ICC).
