What seemed like a probable victory for South Africa Women turned into a fruitless T20I, as rain played spoilsport for India Women to abandon the fourth match of the series. Leading the five-match series 2-1 ahead of the Centurion fixture, Harmanpreet Kaur elected to bowl first on Wednesday. The bowlers barely did any justice to her decision, giving away 130 runs and claiming 3 wickets in 15.3 overs. After revising India’s target in a hope of a result, rain only resumed to call off the match. The two teams will lock horns at Cape Town for the final match.

Rookie Pooja Vastradhar opened bowling with seasoned Rumeli Dhar for India. However, Dane van Niekerk and Lizelle Lee dominated throughout the innings. Though Vastradhar bowled economically, Rumeli, along with the other bowlers, gave away too many runs. Both openers scored fifties. After they took the team score past 100, Deepti Sharma got rid of Dane for 55. Poonam Yadav backed that wicket up, dismissing Chloe Tyron for 2. Deepti struck again, picking up the wicket of Sune Luus for 5.

Lizelle remained unbeaten on 58 as rain interrupted play. The match was finally called off after no signs of rain stopping.

Brief scores:

South Africa Women 130 for 3 in 15.3 overs (Lizelle Lee 58*, Dane van Niekerk 55; Poonam Yadav 1 for 23, Deepti Sharma 2 for 33) vs India Women
