A SNAKE entered the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and stopped the proceedings of the Lanka Premier League 2023 second match being played between Galle Titans and Dambulla Aura, on Monday.
The incident happened after the fourth over of the Dambulla Aura right before Shakib al Hasan’s first spell. The invasion from the snake halted the match for a while before the ground staff managed to take it out.

Galle Titans batting first posted 180 runs with the help of Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s crucial knocks. Dambulla Aura also made 180 runs and the match got into the super over stage. DMA scored 9/1 batting first in the super over.
However, Rajapaksa smashed a boundary on the first ball, and after a wide on the second ball, he hit a six to help GLT record a big victory.
LPL 2023 Kicks Off With Star-Studded Opening Ceremony
The fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) took off on Sunday evening amidst a glamorous opening ceremony at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium here.
The ceremony witnessed a mix of high-octane music, Sri Lankan culture, dance, fireworks, and fanfare ahead of the faceoff between Colombo Strikers and Jaffna Kings held to mark the beginning of the 22-day-long league.
The stadium came alive with the breathtaking display of dancing stunts, 25 drummers energetically welcoming everyone in traditional Srilankan outfits, followed by the enchanting voice of Yohani Diloka de Silva, who also happens to be the brand ambassador for the league.

Expressing enthusiasm for the tournament and the sport’s growth in Sri Lanka, Shammi Silva, the President of Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC), who was the chief guest, attended the event along with Miss World Tourism, Nguyen Giang Tien of Vietnam as well as other local celebrities who ensured the evening was nothing short of electric.
