Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (:LSG) mentor Zaheer Khan believes that skipper Rishabh Pant has been working perfectly as a leader, but needs to ‘click’ when he comes to bat, as he has had a poor run of scores in the ongoing season of IPL.
Rishabh Pant has had a disappointing time while batting in the ongoing IPL season, as he had scored just 110 runs in 10 matches. Most of his knocks were single digit scores, with his single memorable outing being his 63-run knock against Chennai Super Kings.
Zaheer Khan dismissed the suggestions about Rishabh Pant feeling the pressure of his price point, as he was bought for Rs. 27 crore- which is the most expensive in the history of the tournament.
“I wouldn’t relate it to anything (his price point) like that. He is a leader and he has been fantastic as a leader, that’s something which I can vouch for,” Zaheer told the media after LSG’s loss here at the Wankhede Stadium.
“As a leader, he is ticking all the boxes. As a batter, the middle-order is dependent on Rishabh and I am very confident that the impact which we want from him will come. It’s just about something clicking,” Zaheer said.
The LSG mentor stated that Rishabh Pant is not someone who would take pressure, and is a kind of person who would think of letting things go as they happen- tackling all the issues posted to him with a positive energy.
“I wouldn’t relate it to pressure. You have seen that he is the kind of personality… what happened in the last game is something which is gone by and what’s going to happen, he is a very optimistic and a positive personality so from our side, it’s just about continuing with that,” he said.
After their clash against Mumbai Indians (MI), LSG are now going on a one-week break in order to renew their energies in order to finish in the final four. Their next clash is going to be against Punjab Kings on May 4.
