Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday appointed Lux Qoboshiyana as an independent national selector of the board replacing former Test batsman Ashwell Prince. Qoboshiyana, who is currently the acting convener of the Warriors franchise selection committee, was appointed for a two-year period after serving on the Border and Warriors selection panel. He played for Border before the two sides came together to form the present entity. “On behalf of the cricket family I extend congratulations and good wishes to Lux on his appointment,” Haroon Lorgat, CSA chief executive said. “He takes on an important job and has the necessary experience to be a worthy selector after having served both at provincial and franchise levels. He can also draw on his experience as a former player,” he added. The current selection panel comprises four independent selectors plus the Proteas head coach, namely Linda Zondi (Convener), Errol Stewart, Hussein Manack, Lux Qoboshiyana and Russell Domingo. Prince, who travelled with the South Africa A side to Australia, both as a selector and coach has decided to take up coaching on a long term basis. He has moved to BuildNat Cape Cobras as an assistant coach earlier last month.
Meanwhile, Ashwell Prince will star his coaching career, as he was roped in as the assistant coach for South Africa‘s one of the most successful cricket franchise Cape Cobras. Prince recently stepped down from the national selection panel, as he gets set to work with Cobras head coach Paul Adams, along with Alan Dawson, who is the new convener of selectors.
