Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal confirmed on Saturday that the Maharashtra government has shelved the plan to get cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as the state’s brand ambassador.

“The issue has been closed,” he said. “The issue has closed now, it is impossible. We (government) also thought that we shouldn’t insist him (Sachin) much. He belongs to the whole country,” Bhujbal added.

Earlier, the Maharashtra Tourism Department Corporation (MTDC) had sent a letter to Tendulkar asking him to be the brand ambassador of the state.
