Maharashtra sink Tripura by 111 runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 match

New Delhi: Maharashtra notched up a comfortable 111-run win over Tripura after Kedar Jadhav hit a brisk 131 in their Group C Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 encounter.  After opting to bat first, Maharashtra skipper Jadhav smashed 131 off just 90 balls at the Air Force Ground at Palam, to guide his team to 294 all out in 49.4 overs. In reply, Tripura were bundled out for 183 runs in 49.5 overs. Even as wickets fell at regular intervals, Jadhav was unperturbed and went on the offensive, hitting 17 fours and three sixes. Opener Harshad Khadiwale (32) and wicketkeeper-batsman Vishant More (31) were the other two substantial contributors for Maharashtra. Swapnil Gugale was the most successful bowler for Maharashtra, returning impressive figures of 4 for 22, while there two wickets apiece for Akshay Darekar and Nikit Dhumal. For Tripura, Rajesh Banik was the best bowler as he picked up four wickets for 40 runs, while Sanjay Majumder had figures of 3 for 53.

Tripura were in for some early blows, from which they failed to recover for the rest of the match. Udiyan Bose (4) was dismissed with just 18 runs added to the team total, from where the side were eventually reduced to 91 for 7 at one stage. The only saving grace for them was the 75-run eighth wicket stand between Majumdar (52 not out) and Rana Dutta (26), which took the side to a total within the range of 200.
