Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola has reportedly been allowed to keep his IPL bonus of about a million rands despite reports that he had handed it back after it led to an inquiry against him.

Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola has reportedly been allowed to keep his IPL bonus of about a million rands despite reports that he had handed it back after it led to an inquiry against him.
It has now emerged that although Majola, who had accepted the bonus from the IPL without informing the CSA board, had handed it back but it was returned to him after an internal inquiry into the matter just rapped him on the knuckles, The Sunday Times reported.
A recently reinstituted external inquiry by KPMG has also fingered Majola for alleged breaches of the Companies Act, but CSA has refused to make public the findings.
The IPL bonus was not part of the contract between the organisers and CSA when the second edition of the series was played out in South Africa two years ago because of security concerns in India due to elections at the time.
Majola received an additional bonus from CSA, which was not aware at the time of the IPL bonus.
Although CSA spokesman Michael Owen-Smith said the IPL bonus had been ratified by the Board, it is likely to resurface as President Mtutuzeli Nyoka continues his own drive for transparency.
Nyoka reinstituted his call for an external inquiry after he was earlier dismissed from his position in absentia but then reinstated following court action.
He was absent at the Board meeting last weekend where Majola got off lightly for a second time and now wants to see the full audit report before deciding on further action on his part.(PTI)
