Martin Guptill scored a fine hundred in New Zealand‘s eight-wicket victory against South Africa in the second One-Day International (ODI). After South Africa were restricted to 204 all out, New Zealand’s opener Guptill ensured no major hiccups in the chase scoring an unbeaten 103. He later said he enjoys the varied conditions he is challenged with in South Africa. Asked about his own streak of amazing form, Guptill was bemused by the way things had taken off for him this year. “I do like coming here. It’s a great place to come and play cricket. You get confronted with a lot of different conditions. Today was completely different to what we have played on before. It was nice to go out and have a match-winning contribution for the team,” Guptill was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz. SA vs NZ 2015: Guptill ton helps Black Caps level series with 8-wicket win
“It was a struggle, it wasn’t easy. But the way Tommy played, he really got us under way with the bat and got us up to a decent run rate early on and we could just cruise from there. His hand really helped setting us on our way,” Guptill continued.
“Tommy is a great kid. He is young and learning his game. We have put on some good partnerships in the last little while and I hope that continues. He is still learning his one-day game but the way he played today and the last game, he is starting to find it and starting to be a lot more consistent with it as well. He is going to have a long career for New Zealand,” Guptill said of his opening partner Tom Latham who scored a composed 64.
