New Zealand opening batsman, Martin Guptill scored the highest individual score in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 with a score of an unbeaten 237 against former world champions, West Indies in the fourth quarter-final at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington on Staurday. His double knock helped New Zealand post a massive total of 393 and became the first New Zealand batsman to score the knock. He also became the second man after Chris Gayle to do so at the grandest stage. He is also second behind India’s Rohit Sharma who scored a massive 264 against Sri Lanka in Noevmeber last year at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Guptill is the fifth man in the world to achieve the feat and also is invloved in the sixth instance of a batsman scoring 200 in ODIs. He joins the elite panel of Sachin Tendulkar (200*), Virender Sehwag (219), Rohit Sharma (209 & 264) and Chris Gayle (215), who have achieved the glorious feat. Guptill’s innings was so belligerent that Brendon McCullum’s failure hardly mattered to the Black Caps’ run rate.
