Aaron Finch: Didn’t play too badly, anytime you contribute to a team win is special. I think that is the most important thing. Nice to get a hundred in a win. Wicket was seaming around a bit initially, Woaksey bowled a hell of a spell upfront, he bowled seven overs in a row, we were hoping that he will quit after 5 but he kept coming. Laid a reasonable foundation with Davey (Warner). Bit more confidence when you walk out when you know you have done well against an opposition. It was nipping around, it was seaming. I think we played quite well. We were as tight as we could and we tried to cash in on the width.

Eoin Morgan: A lot of today, we were outplayed. Thought we bowled well upfront. Little bit unlucky as Australia played and missed a lot. They built a fantastic partnership. Wicket got a little bit better, but still challenging. Wicket this morning was soft when we started. Choosing to bat would’ve been a horrific decision. Finch played really well, capitalized on the start he got. We pegged it back really well. For a long time it looked like they’d get 330. When you’re 20/3, it pegs you back substantially. Given the circumstances, it’s not hugely disappointing. Our fate is in our own hands. Everything we need to turn around is simple. Won’t search for anything that’s not there.

IT’S OVER! Australia beat England to move to the top spot in the points table. Aaron Finch, Jason Behrendorff & Mitchell Starc have starred in this Australian win.

  • 10:27 PM IST

NINE DOWN! FIVE-WICKET HAUL! Behrendorff is all smiles and why should not he! David Warner takes an easy catch in the deep as Archer departs.

  • 10:17 PM IST

OUT! The tag team of Maxwell and Finch has ended Woakes’ stay in the middle. Fourth wicket for Behrendorff.

  • 10:14 PM IST

200 UP! England need 86 runs off 9 overs to win this, with three wickets in hand.

  • 10:09 PM IST

WICKET! This is going down and going down quickly. Jason Behrendorff scalps his third wicket as Moeen Ali departs. England seven down.

  • 9:54 PM IST

OUT! What a ball! Fast, coming in. Starc has delivered the big blow. Ben Stokes departs.

  • 9:47 PM IST

FOUR! He is toying with that fielder in the deep. Stokes goes aerial but it is safe. Such power in that cover drive. Ferocious.

  • 9:46 PM IST

FOUR! Powerful! Stokes dances down the track as Cummins fires one wide and the ball races past extra-cover boundary rope. Quite a cruncher!

Match highlights, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Match 32: Finch, Starc, Behrendorff star as Australia beat England to reach semifinals

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Match 32 of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and Australia at Lord’s London on Tuesday.

ENG vs AUS PREVIEW

World Cup champions meet World Cup hopefuls. No 1 versus No 5. Australia, who have won the World Cup a record five times, against England, never to get their hands on the trophy.

Game 32 of the ICC Cricket World Cup pits together Eoin Morgan‘s English cricket team, who have redefined one-day batting since exiting the last tournament four years ago, against Aaron Finch‘s defending champions, who last year tried to emulate England’s style of batting and failed, to lose 0-5 in these shores.

England are in a bit of a squeeze, having slipped to fourth place on the World Cup points table after losing to Sri Lanka in the upset of the tournament. They need to win two of their last three matches to qualify for the semi-finals, and they are not easy matches. First up are Australia at Lord’s on Tuesday, followed by the two unbeaten teams, India and New Zealand. Morgan insists that England are not worried.
