Quinton de Kock: I think we kept it nice and simple with the bowl, hitting the good length. Beuran came in and bowled really well, he read the situation right tonight. We fixed one of two things quickly with the ball from the last game, for them to act to quickly was a positive for me. The intensity and the fielding parts are also things that really impressed me. As long as the boys are hungry, I am perfectly happy with that.

Virat Kohli: Exactly what we wanted to do. This is the template we want to follow before the World T20. We should be able to find the answers. South Africa bowled really well, the pitch suited them really well in the first innings. In T20 cricket chasing is relatively easier because in other formats you need to bat longer and string partnerships. We will try to get the squad composition right as soon as we can. At the moment the guys who have done well in domestic cricket are getting opportunities. We have got to understand that this is a young side as well.

  • 10:31 PM IST

Beuran Hendricks: It was one of those days where things worked for me, so used my opportunity well. Lot of hard work put in behind the scene, so happy with that. Normally I don’t look at the pitch while warming up. Consistency is the key.

  • 10:25 PM IST
Temba Bavuma: I got my T20I debut at a time I didn’t expect it. The coaches and selectors have shown a lot of faith in me. It was upto me to pay them back. I think it is just the intensity, to have the mindset to score, as I don’t have the powers like Gayle or someone, pick up singles and twos is my game. I surprised myself there (with the six). Lot of confidence within this young team. Our goal was to draw the T20 series and we have managed to do that. We can take the confidence from it into the Test series which is going to be tough.

Match highlights, India vs South Africa, IND vs SA, 3rd T20I: Quinton de Kock, bowlers star as South Africa square series in Bengaluru

Virat Kohli’s familiar exuberance and pep talks drowned the chatter around Rishabh Pant as India prepared to play South Africa in the third T20 International in Bengaluru on Sunday, seeking a 2-0 series victory.

The comprehensive seven-wicket victory in the second game, which was built on the back of a fine comeback by the bowlers and a Kohli masterclass, is history now and the team is looking for another commanding performance before the Test series gets underway. The opener in Dharamsala was a washout.

Against a fairly new-look South African side that seems to lack the resources required to counter the home team’s firepower, India will surely fancy their chances of an encore, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Embattled wicketkeeper-batsman Pant could not deliver in the last match and as he continues to struggle with the bat, he remains under scrutiny.
