Mohammed Shami, the standout pacer for the Indian cricket team, issued an update on Monday, revealing that he had an Achilles tendon procedure. The right-arm pacer took to X (previously Twitter) to inform his fans. “I just underwent a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery will take some time, but I’m looking forward to getting back on my feet. “#AchillesRecovery #HeelSurgery #RoadToRecovery,” Shami wrote on X. Shami missed the home T20I series against Australia after the ICC event, and he was ruled out of the entire South African tour. He also missed the Afghanistan series and is not taking part in the current Test series against England.
The 33-year-old, who is not participating in the current five-match Test series against England, last played for India in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November. The senior pacer was the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, dismissing 24 batsman in just 7 matches.
Shami, who claimed 24 wickets in India’s amazing World Cup campaign, played in misery owing to landing troubles, but he did not let it affect his performance.
According to the most recent information, he will not compete in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This is a big blow to the franchise, since Shami led the Gujarat Titans’ pace assault.
