Mohit Sharma likely to replace injured Ishant Sharma in India’s ICC World Cup 2015 squad

The BCCI officials have revealed that a few players have taken permission to fly out of Adelaide.

Mohit Sharma, the Haryana pace spearhead and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler is going to be the most likely replacement for injured Ishant Sharma in India‘s ICC World Cup 2015 squad. Ishant is currently suffering from an ankle injury and his chances of representing India in the upcoming World Cup are decreasing day by day. Mohit is presently travelling with the Indian squad in Australia as a back up for the injured bowlers.

According to a report published in Mirror, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the team management time up to February 5 to take final decision about  the injured players. It has been learnt apart from Ishant, other members of the World Cup squad, including Bhuveneshar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja and even Mohammed Shami all have fitness issues but Ishan’t case apparently is a little serious.

Though there were no official statement from BCCI yet, but a source close to the board said, “We can’t sit back and watch silently. There is a need to address the issue before it is too late. We’ll take a final call by February 5.” The board sources further revealed that Bhuveneshar’s declining pace is a concern for the team management and it is under scrutiny.  “We’re watching him too but at this stage Ishant looks doubtful for World Cup,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the BCCI officials have revealed that a few players have taken permission to fly out of Adelaide, the team’s current base, for a few days. They have been asked  to join the squad by February 5.
