Kolkata: India’s limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Sunday heaped praises on New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum, saying he was fortunate to have shared the dressing room with him. McCullum blasted his way to the fastest Test century on Saturday in his final Test. He achieved the feat in 54 balls, in turn surpassing the record of West Indies legend Viv Richards and Pakistan’s Misbah Ul Haq who did it in 56 deliveries. Dhoni and the New Zealand skipper had shared the dressing room for the now suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). “I have not seen his knock but I think I’ve seen enough of his knocks. He’s a fantastic cricketer. He tries to entertain everyone from the very first ball. Hope he does well after quitting the game. I was fortunate to share the dressing room with him,” Dhoni told media persons. READ: VIDEO: Brendon McCullum slams fastest Test ton against Australia in 2nd Test at Christchurch
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan too congratulated McCullum for achieving such a feat. “I would like to congratulate McCullum for getting the fastest hundred in Test matches. I did not get to see the knock but I read about it. He backs himself. It’s up to an individual and how much he believes in himself,” Shikhar said.
