The alleged silent tiff between India’s limited overs skipper MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir has no base at all as it gets revealed by an image from the same event that is contradictory to what was being anticipated. A video involving both the players from a match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015-16 between Delhi and Jharkhand went viral on the web. It was a video recorded after Delhi clinched victory against Jharkhand. Gautam Gambhir is the captain of Delhi while MS Dhoni was seen playing for Jharkhand under the captaincy of young Varun Aaron. As the match concluded, players came forward to exchange formal greetings by shaking hands. Vijay Hazare 2015-16: Full coverage here
It was noted in the video that as Dhoni progressed towards Gambhir while shaking hands with players one after another, Gambhir showed complete indifference and rather shook hands with his own teammate. Though it seemed from Dhoni’s body language that he was expecting a gesture of sportsmanship from the Delhi skipper, he never was seen expanding his hand for the same as a matter of fact.
The sportsmanship spirit of Gambhir was put in front of questions as the video surfaced many popular social platforms. Gambhir has been previously involved in such incidents with Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwari in a Ranji Trophy match or with Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper and India teammate Virat Kohli during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in the year 2013. But what is now revealed is a picture of Dhoni and Gambhir shaking hands cordially shut the mouth of all rumour-mongers. READ: Gautam Gambhir, Manoj Tiwari fined after Ranji Trophy spat
