“Our cricket season has started and we want to play best for our country’s image. We want to start the season well. The conditions in Sri Lanka are not too different. Certain things change but the pattern of cricket remains the same,” Dhoni said.
Dhoni, under whom India have won the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup and the ICC 2011 World Cup, said it requires a good team and not an extraordinary captain to ensure success.
“A captain can channelise but the team is very important. An ordinary team with an extraordinary captain cannot win the World Cup,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Team India coach Duncan Fletcher also remained upbeat about India’s upcoming tour. “The team morale is high. Players are coming from a break. I have spoken to the players and have gotten along very well with them. Everybody seems to have enjoyed my inputs,” he said.
