MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has managed to impress the critics as well, as it has qualified for list of movies up for Oscar nominations.

The year 2016 has been a year of biopics with two movies made based on the stories of cricketers. While Azhar (based on Mohammad Azharuddin) was a hit among the mass, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story‘ has managed to impress the critics as well, as it has qualified for the list of movies eligible for Oscar nominations. It is not the only Indian movie among the 335 other feature films, as Sarbjit, the biopic made based on the life of Sarbjit Singh also has also made it to the list released by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday. However, the movie based on India’s limited-overs skipper was a commercial hit as well.
As reported by Times of India, a feature film to make it to the list needed to have screened for 7 days consecutively in Los Angeles County on 35mm or 70mm screen of digitally between January 1 and December 31. Also, the duration of the film should be 40 minutes or more. Apart from Sarbjit and the Dhoni biopic, ‘Queen of Katwe’, a film by Indo-American filmmaker Mira Nair has also made it to the list. ‘La La Land,’ ‘Moonlight,’ ‘Manchester by the Sea,’ ‘Silence,’ ‘Arrival’, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, ‘Deadpool,’ ‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ are the other films to have made it to the list.
Sushant Singh Rajput portrayed Dhoni in the film and was much appreciated for his work. The film directed by celebrated director Neeraj Pandey revolved around the skipper’s humble beginnings to the rise as a superstar and one of the most successful skippers of the nation. It also threw light on his personal life.
