Just before the start of the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Daredevils (DD), there was some confusion involving Mumbai’s line-up for the match. After the toss had taken place and both the captains submitted their team sheets, Mumbai management decided to make a change in their playing XI, as Praveen Kumar had apparently injured himself, and they wanted to replace him with Pragyan Ojha in the XI.

The start of the match was slightly delayed by around five minutes as both the umpires seemed to be involved in a long conversation with Kevin Pietersen and Gary Kirsten of Delhi. Soon, Anil Kumble too joined the discussion, trying to convince the umpires and Delhi to allow the change.

Ultimately, the umpires agreed and allowed the change. The Delhi think tank intially hesitated because Ojha is a spinner, and he replaced a pacer. With Mumbai bowling second in this match, this change could seriously affect the outcome of this crucial tie.
