Murali Vijay has been dismissed for 42 off just 34 deliveries in the match between Kings XI Punjab and Gujarat Lions in IPL 9. He was soon followed into the hut by Glenn Maxwell, who came on to bat at No. 4. Vijay opened the innings along with Manan Vohra. The duo put on 78 off just 50 deliveries for the opening wicket. Manan also played his part in the partnership, scoring 38 off just 23, before he was caught behind off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja. David Miller walked in at No .3 and he was happy to give the strike back to Vijay.But Vijay has been cleaned up and the middle-order will now have to ensure that the team gets a big score on the board. Glenn Maxwell came into bat at No. 4 to join his skipper Miller in the middle. Both Miller and Maxwell are the two most explosive batsmen in the line-up. Vijay was looking good in the middle and was looking to get a big score on the board. Earlier, GL won the toss and elected to bowl first. This is their first ever match in the tournament, being one out of the two teams to be inducted for this edition of the tournament.
