Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat earlier in the day. Saeed Ajmal was one of the centres of attraction at the start of the match, and bowled his first delivery in international cricket since the ban imposed on him by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the 11th over of the Bangladesh innings. Bangladesh lost the wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah, with the scoreboard reading 67 for the loss of two wickets at the time of the latter’s dismissal off the bowling of Rahat Ali.
