Muscat: Oman Cricket on Monday was granted full membership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), as a non-Test playing nation, according to the latest reports from Oman Cricket. The decision was made at a General assembly in the ACC latest headquarters in Colombo. The Oman Cricket also came up with an information regarding the Sultanate and that it has made it to the ACC Executive Board, as it would be staying there for the next couple of years. General Secretary Oman Cricket Madhu Jesrani, Treasurer Kiran Asher and Chief Development Officer Duleep Mendis, who is also the Oman national coach, would be representing the Sultanate during the ACC General Assembly for the next couple of years. Also in the General Assembly, Shahryar Khan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, was elected as the new chairman of the ACC, as the new ACC headquarters in Colombo was inaugurated officially, while Sri Lanka Cricket chief Thilanga Sumathipala and Dayasiri Jayasekara, Minister of Sport were all present during the event, reported Times of Oman. Earlier, Jersey’s Anthony Hawkins-Kay’s unbeaten 60 followed by an inspiring skill bowling defeated Oman by 44 runs to take the Division Five Title. Chasing a target of 195, Oman’s innings never got going as they kept losing wickets at regular wickets. They got all out in the 46th over to handover the title to Jersey. Oman’s Zeeshan Maqsood top scored with 43 off 22 balls but after his dismissal Oman struggled to get going. Hawkins had a good game overall as he scored an unbeaten 60 and ended the game taking the key wicket of Maqsood when he was looking good. In the third place game, Guernsey came from behind after a spirited effort from Vanuatu to win the game by 19 runs at St. Martin.
