Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday made a formal short-term bowling coach job offer to former captain Wasim Akram for their national side

The former left-arm pacer has not rejected the proposal, but has requested PCB to work around his busy schedule if he accepts the offer, Cricket 365 reported.

“I am willing to coach because I would like to work with youngsters and train them,” said Akram.

“I have always said that I am available to work with young bowlers in Pakistan, but due to my busy schedule I can’t do this full time.

“But whenever I am in Pakistan, I am available to coach and groom the youngsters. There is no dearth of talent in Pakistan, it only has to be scouted and groomed properly,” Akram expressed.

Akram is currently in Australia for commentating in the upcoming Under-19 World Cup and will also be in South Africa later this year for the Champions League T20.

An official from the board confirmed that Akram has given positive response on the offer.

“The PCB is always very keen to utilise his services and this is a positive gesture by him,” he said.
