Pakistan reached 79 for three after 38 overs in the post lunch session on the first day of their opening Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle. Misbah-ul-Haq was batting on six, accompanied by Younis Khan at 35 not out as Sri Lanka were kept at bay by the two Pakistani batsmen.

Misbah and Younis have so far added 23 runs for the fourth wicket, as the movement of the ball generated by Sri Lankan pacers continued to trouble them at Galle.

Earlier in the day, Dhammika Prasad claimed two wickets and Rangana Herath one as Sri Lanka reduced Pakistan to 59 for three at lunch.

Pakistan, back to the cricket field after a long gap of about six months, looked completely rusty in the first session as barring Azhar Ali, the other batsmen struggled against an inspired Sri Lankan attack.
