Australia opener Matthew Renshaw suffered a nasty knock on his head during Day Two of their tour match against Pakistan A at the ICC Academy ground on Sunday. Renshaw, who was fielding at short leg off off-spinner Nathan Lyon, was hit in the side of the helmet by a powerful pull shot from Pakistan A batsman Abid Ali.

The impact of the shot was so much that the ball ricocheted high into the air that left skipper and wicketkeeper Tim Paine take a simple catch near the stumps to give Lyon his sixth wicket of the innings.

Renshaw was temporarily fazed out and after being helped to his feet by Paine, the medical staff came to inspect him and led him off the field.

Having suffered a major injury scare ahead of their two-Test match series against Pakistan beginning on October 7, Renshaw was immediately substituted and according to cricket.com.au, he will play no further part in the match. The Pakistanis have agreed Marnus Labuschagne as replacement for Renshaw in the playing eleven.

After the incident, Pakistan A were bowled out for 278.
