Out-form pacer Mohammad Amir has been dropped from Pakistan’s 17-member squad for the two-Test series against Australia in UAE starting October 7 in Dubai.
33-year-old left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz has been recalled with Sarfraz Ahmed continuing as the skipper of the team. Mohammad Rizwan has also earned a comeback as the backup wicketkeeping option after playing a solitary Test against New Zealand in 2016.
Keeping in mind the turning tracks on Abu Dhabi, Pakistan have added three spinners in leg spinner Shadab Khan, wrist-spinner Yasir Shah and off-spinner Bilal Asif.
Left-arm pacer Mir Hamza has also been included. The players to miss out after being part of the England series are pacers Amir, Rahat Ali, batsmen Saad Ali and Sami Aslam.
“The team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions of the UAE, where Mohammad Amir has been dropped from the side and Wahab Riaz and Mir Hamza comes in the side. Three spinners Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah and Bilal Asif have been kept in the squad keeping in view the UAE wickets. Furthermore, Mohammad Rizwan makes a comeback in the Test squad,” said the Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq.
